About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machining centres to manufacture components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Carry out 5-axis machining operations safely and efficiently.

  • Perform in-process inspection of components to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.

  • Complete associated inspection records, production documentation, and quality paperwork accurately.

  • Identify and troubleshoot machining or production issues, escalating where necessary.

  • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas to a high standard.

  • Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures, reporting any hazards or non-conformances.

  • Work closely with colleagues and other departments to meet production targets and customer requirements.

  • Support and share knowledge with less experienced team members where required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience in CNC machining.

  • Essential: Proven experience operating and setting 5-axis CNC machining centres.

  • Desirable: Experience with Mazak 5-axis machining centres and Mazatrol controls.

  • Comfortable carrying out in-process inspection and completing associated quality documentation.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and measurement data.

  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.

  • Experience using measuring equipment and quality control processes.

  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
