The Cloud Platform Engineering Senior Manager delivers a secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platform that enables rapid deployment and management of cloud solutions. This role drives strategy, architecture, and automation to optimise performance, cost, and reliability - empowering teams to innovate and meet evolving business needs.
What you will be doing
- Collaborate with senior Digital stakeholders to shape the cloud platform strategy and roadmaps.
- Drive the design and delivery of reusable cloud services and platform capabilities, ensuring compliance with lifecycle and governance standards.
- Build and manage a high-performing management team, fostering accountability, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, and business teams.
- Accountability for improving developer experience and velocity using DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR, change failure rate).
- Monitor platform performance, cost optimisation, and operational resilience using KPIs, SLOs, and data-driven insights.
- Deliver rapid, reliable build and release processes by championing Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, DevOps, and SRE practices, while always maintaining security and compliance.
- Maintain robust compliance with security, regulatory, and governance standards across all cloud environments.
- Evaluate and incorporate new AWS services and technologies to enhance platform value for HL’s business and clients.
About you
- Extensive experience in cloud platform engineering and operations, with a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and best practices.
- Strong technical expertise in AWS services and the ability to translate business requirements into robust, scalable cloud solutions.
- Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing, cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution capabilities to navigate complex technical and organisational challenges.
- Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills to work closely with the product engineering or client facing teams and align the cloud platform with their needs.
- Commitment to continuous learning and the implementation of innovative cloud technologies and delivery approaches.
- Demonstrated leadership in building and developing high-performing cloud platform engineering or architecture teams.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale cloud migrations and platform modernisation initiatives.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.

3 stage interview process – Meet with the Digital Platforms and Services Director, then a Technical Interview followed by a Leadership/ Culture.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
