About your team: 

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer with experience in AWS and Azure to support Centrica Energy operations, automate deployment pipelines, and enhance the reliability and scalability of our infrastructure. The role holder will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement DevOps practices and ensure seamless application delivery.

We embrace ‘flexible first’ as our guiding principle for flexible and hybrid working, which balances work, the team, and the individual need for flexibility. This role is based out of our London office, close to Marble Arch, with the team typically coming in 3 days per week. #LI-CET

Here’s what we need you to do: 

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Deploy, configure, and maintain infrastructure on AWS and Azure

• Optimize cloud environments for performance, security, and cost efficiency.

CI/CD Implementation

• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps  AWS Code Pipeline

• Ensure automated build, testing, and deployment processes.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Use tools like AWS CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates to automate infrastructure provisioning

• Maintain and version control IaC scripts for consistency.

Monitoring and Maintenance

• Implement monitoring and alerting solutions using tools like AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor

• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues.

Collaboration

• Work with development teams to ensure alignment with DevOps best practices

• Provide support for application deployment and release management

• Provide P1/P2 support for critical Infrastructure.

Security and Compliance

• Implement cloud security best practices, including IAM policies, security groups, and data encryption

• Assist in audits and compliance initiatives.

What we’re looking for: 

• In-depth experience in DevOps within a Commodity Trading, Investment Banking or Financial Services environment

• High level of proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS and Azure)

• Excellent scripting skills in Python and PowerShell

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and / or Ansible

• Understanding of networking, security, and monitoring tools

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to work in agile, fast-paced environments

• Brilliant communication skills for working with development, QA, and security teams.
