Aegon Asset Management is a leading global investor, our employees work from 13 locations across Europe, the Americas and Asia. We advise on assets for a global client base of pension plans, public funds, insurance companies, banks, wealth managers, family offices and foundations. We share a common belief in fundamental, research-driven active management, underpinned by effective risk management and a commitment to responsible investment.

Our people are our greatest asset, and we want Aegon Asset Management to be a place where they can bring their authentic self to work and do all they can to deliver on our strategic promises to our customers.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter.

This role sits at the core of our CLO platform and support the smooth running of our portfolios day to day. You’ll work closely with portfolio managers, research analysts, and external partners, gaining hands on exposure to leveraged loans, structured credit, loan documentation, loan trading, as well as the full CLO lifecycle.

Key responsibilities:

Analyse and assess new investment opportunities and make recommendations:

  • Screen potential investments across primary and secondary markets, conducting detailed credit analysis and due diligence, including financial modelling and legal documentation review.

  • Prepare high-quality credit papers and investment recommendations.

  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, borrowers, sponsors, legal advisers and other syndicate participants, while representing the business at presentations, meetings and industry events.

  • Manage the internal credit approval process, including presenting recommendations to key investment and credit committees.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Fixed Income team to support investment decision-making and portfolio management.

Monitor performance of borrowers within assigned sector/portfolio:

  • Analyse company financial results and prepare regular portfolio reviews and investment updates.

  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with borrowers, agents and banking partners to assess both financial performance and broader business developments.

  • Monitor market developments, industry trends and borrower-specific news that may affect portfolio performance.

  • Provide buy, sell or hold recommendations based on credit fundamentals, market events and relative value opportunities.

  • Manage waiver and amendment requests, including more complex recapitalisation transactions.

  • Contribute to portfolio reporting, performance analysis and management information.

Support restructuring activity

  • Protect investors' interests by participating in negotiations with borrowers, shareholders and syndicate members during restructuring situations.

  • Assess risks and opportunities through financial analysis, valuation work, legal document review and strategic option analysis.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a strong interest in credit markets, leveraged finance, structured credit or portfolio analytics.

  • Are highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

  • Enjoy working with financial data and developing analytical insights.

  • Have a curious, problem-solving mindset and enjoy tackling complex challenges.

  • Are a confident communicator who can build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Have strong Excel skills and are keen to develop your knowledge of financial systems and investment markets.

Previous experience in loan operations or CLOs would be an advantage, but it isn't essential. We're equally interested in candidates who bring a genuine enthusiasm for financial markets, a willingness to learn and a desire to build a career within credit investing.

At Aegon Asset Management, we are committed to fostering a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture. We are more than a global Asset Management firm – we are a people business, and we recognise that delivering excellent client outcomes, comes from embracing diverse perspectives. We value diversity in the full range of human uniqueness without limitation including race, gender, ability, language, culture, beliefs, age, origin, background, perspectives and experiences.

We serve a diverse, ever-changing world. It's tough, but we work tirelessly to leave things better than we find them. If that sounds like the sort of place you'd like to work, hit the "Apply" button.

The legal bits

We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.
