We make health happen

At Bupa, we’re here for one simple reason: to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives, and make a better world. In this executive role, you’ll set the clinical direction for Dermatology across Bupa Health Clinics—shaping safe, effective care at scale while partnering with operations, product and M&A to grow a market‑leading service.

We are looking for a forward-thinking collaborative Dermatologist who wants to help us lead, grow and shape our Dermatology services. Supporting an existing network of clinics and expanding services, this role will appeal to someone who is a proactive leader, with a good understanding of clinical governance, commercial awareness, innovation and a reputation for taking people with them. Previous leadership experience could be helpful, a collaborative and inspiring leadership style will be needed to help us develop and expand our Dermatology services nationwide.

The role holder will work with both clinical leaders and those in non-clinical roles, will be part of a high performing multidisciplinary clinical leadership team which has extensive experience of leading multiple clinical services and will be supported by an established and mature clinical governance team and framework.

The role is two days a week, focused on non-patient-facing leadership tasks such as governance meetings, preparing for CQC inspections, handling escalated complaints/incidents, and managing consultant performance concerns.

How you’ll help us make health happen

In this role, you will:

  • Provide visible clinical leadership for Dermatology services across Bupa UK and take joint accountability for clinical strategy and KPIs as part of the BHC Medical Directors team.
  • Grow and evolve the service by working closely with Operational, Product and M&A teams, and through strategic partnerships with external providers.
  • Lead clinical governance end‑to‑end—from evidence‑based pathways and audit to incident learning, risk management and regulatory compliance—backed by dashboards and MI to track outcomes.
  • Champion multi‑channel care (in‑clinic, remote and digital), ensuring consistent clinical standards and clinician training across all settings.
  • Build a thriving clinical community, supporting senior clinical leads, nurturing talent, and strengthening engagement with the Bupa Code.

What we’re looking for

We’re focused on the must‑haves that ensure success in this role:

  • Consultant Dermatologist on the GMC Specialist Register (via CCT or CESR) with substantive post‑qualification experience and an active, contemporary clinical practice.
  • Proven clinical leadership and line‑management experience, including leading multi‑disciplinary teams and addressing performance concerns with compassion and clarity. Ability to handle difficult conversations while recognising individual differences
  • Clinical governance expertise—implementing evidence‑based pathways, audit, incident learning, and regulatory compliance; confident evaluating new treatments and technologies.
  • Data‑driven mindset with strong numerical skills; able to interpret MI/dashboards and turn insights into action.
  • Strategic growth and partnership capability—credible with senior stakeholders, comfortable balancing clinical and commercial considerations, and skilled at influencing at Board level and with media.
