Job Title: Client Portfolio Management - Global High Yield - Senior Associate / Associate Director

Location: London, UK

Job Summary

Barings Client Portfolio Managers work in close partnership and coordination with investment teams and sales as well as other stakeholders within the organization as subject matter experts, focusing on business development, client servicing and product development for certain investment strategies.

This opportunity is located in London and will support all Barings public fixed income strategies (high yield, loans, emerging markets, investment grade and structured credit), with a primary focus on high yield, loans and CLOs. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members, the investment team, and distribution to support existing clients, and to help drive future growth in Barings’ public fixed income strategies. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert on Barings’ Global High Yield product offerings as well as on high yield credit markets; serve as a lead business development liaison and ongoing internal primary point of contact for Barings’ high yield and loans strategies in EMEA; possibility for product coverage to expand across other public fixed income asset classes over time
  • Develop, maintain and prepare marketing and servicing materials for the team. This will include materials to highlight competitive advantages of Barings’ Global High Yield product offerings and key trends in high yield credit markets, pitch books as well as scheduled and ad-hoc updates on public fixed income markets and specific aspects of an investment strategy
  • Build and foster a network of successful working relationships across internal stakeholders, primarily within the investment and distribution teams; communicate various aspects of investment strategies and financial markets internally and externally with the goal of maintaining and growing assets under management
  • Support efforts communicating the Global High Yield platform’s approach to sustainability and engagement
  • Work independently to respond in a timely manner to client and prospect requests with a strong attention to detail
  • Collaborate with the various teams internally to review and provide strategy specific responses to RFPs and DDQs
  • Stay abreast of market developments and competitor intelligence

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience
  • University degree
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to assess and convey market dynamics, portfolio strategy and risk factors
  • A passion for financial markets and proficiency in Public Fixed Income specifically. High yield/leveraged finance experience a strong plus
  • Relevant work experience, ideally in either an investment management or investment specialist/product strategist/client portfolio manager role
  • Strong organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks independently as well as perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel required, including experience using MS Office software to produce high quality presentations
  • Fluency in European languages will be considered positively
  • Ability and willingness to travel if needed
