Job Summary

The Strategic Client Executive / Global Account Manager is responsible for owning the commercial success, growth, and long‑term platform expansion of one or more of Equinix’s most strategic global customers within a global account framework.

This role operates in a highly complex, matrixed environment with sophisticated customers, advanced procurement organizations, legacy contracts, and multi‑year architectural and commercial dependencies.

The Strategic Client Executive provides end‑to‑end commercial leadership across the account lifecycle—driving demand, shaping customer architecture decisions, protecting revenue, and ensuring a consistent, high‑quality global customer experience.

The role serves as the single point of accountability for sustained, profitable growth, revenue protection, executive engagement, and disciplined execution, while leading a virtual, cross‑functional account team across regions and functions.

Responsibilities

Strategic Account Ownership & Growth

  • Own sustained, profitable growth for assigned strategic accounts, proactively shaping demand

  • Translate customer business priorities and technology direction into a documented multi‑year vision and growth roadmap, used as the internal operating plan.

  • Balance long‑term platform positioning with near‑term business, exercising sound judgment on opportunity prioritization, pursuit, delay, or de‑commitment.

  • Source and co‑create opportunities within the region in close alignment with global account leadership.

  • Build a predictable run rate whilst developing large strategic initiatives.

  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management, forecast accuracy, and CRM rigor

Architecture & Platform Leadership

  • Lead future‑state infrastructure and platform discussions with customers, confirming Equinix as a long‑term digital infrastructure and interconnection partner,

  • Influence customer architecture decisions across colocation, interconnection, and built to suit datacenters to drive durable platform expansion.

  •  

  • Anchor commercial discussions in customer outcomes, business value, and long‑term architectural direction.

  • Ensure interconnection is positioned as a strategic enabler in all relevant strategic account conversations.

Revenue Protection, Renewals & Account Health

  • Own the full commercial lifecycle of the account, treating growth and retention with equal rigor.

  • Anticipate any risk to revenue retention early and lead proactive, coordinated renewal strategies.

  • Align closely with CRO partners including Customer Success, Sales, and Operational teams to protect long‑term account health and prevent churn.

  • Lead timely contract negotiations and ensure alignment to RFS and billing milestones.

Executive Engagement & Influence

  • Build and maintain purposeful, outcome‑driven senior relationships across customer organizations.

  • Engage effectively across infrastructure, platform, network, application, procurement, and business leadership functions.

  • Demonstrate executive presence and credibility with advanced technical and procurement stakeholders.

  • Influence outcomes within complex, global buying processes and matrixed account structures without direct authority.

  • Use executive engagement to advance multi‑year growth initiatives, platform expansion, and architectural evolution.

Execution, Operating Rigor & Accountability (EDGE)

  • Run the account as a business with discipline, clarity, and accountability.

  • Lead a virtual, cross‑functional account team with clear priorities, ownership, and delegation.

  • Surface risks, delays, and strategic drift early with transparent communication.

  • Take ownership of outcomes—wins, losses, delays, and trade‑offs—and course‑correct decisively.

  • Operate within required Equinix sales and execution methodologies

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing large, complex strategic or global accounts in a matrixed environment is mandatory

  • Demonstrated success driving sustained, profitable growth and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance long‑term strategy and near‑term execution.

  • Experience engaging advanced procurement, technical, and executive audiences.

  • Disciplined operator with strong forecasting, pipeline, and execution rigor.

  • Experience within digital infrastructure, cloud, data centers, interconnection, or adjacent technology ecosystems preferred.
