Job Description: Claims Specialist

How does this role contribute to our collective success?
 

This role contributes to AXIS’ collective success through maintaining and promoting a market leading claims service to support clients’ complex risks and challenges and in so doing to support the retention and acquisition of business.
What will you do in this role?
 

  • Handle personal injury and property damage claims in a general liability and medical malpractice capacity, as well as other liability/PI classes,  for a wide variety of professions and commercial clients written in the non-US Professional Lines Division and reporting to the GL & Med Mal Claims Lead.
  • Work closely with clients, market leaders and brokers as well as assisting with the management of TPA service providers and external legal advisors to ensure a premier claims service to clients is maintained.
  • Handle claims in a lead capacity from first advice to final settlement including full analysis of coverage and liability, reserve evaluations, formulating resolution strategy and liaising with risk managers, in house counsel and experts including high value, complex claims under supervision of the GL & Med Mal Claims Lead.
  • Handle Lloyd’s Syndicate as well as IUA and company claims.
  • Liaise with respective underwriters on wording/policy issues, provide claims info and attend client meetings as appropriate.
  • Engage with other stakeholders, including claims operations, underwriters, actuaries and Internal Audit in relation to claims information, MI and other projects to elevate claims performance.

What you need to have:
 

  • Experience in dealing with personal injury and/or medical malpractice claims in either a claims lead or legal advisory capacity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulately present in meetings.
  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to liaise with numerous customers, both internal and external.

What we prefer you to have:
 

  • Ideally you will have worked in a syndicate, company or a broker and gained sufficient practical experience in the market place to independently perform the above duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of CLASS/ECF2.
  • Experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Legal or professional qualification such ACII.

In this role, you will typically be required to be in the office 3 days per week.
