Let’s transform banking forever

ClearBank is built on the belief that banking infrastructure shouldn’t slow down progress. Quite the opposite. Speed it up and that’s when you unlock potential. When you really start to innovate.

That spirit and ‘can-do’ attitude is why our clients – from FinTech's and crypto platforms, to banks and credit unions – choose to use our API to power their banking infrastructure.

But it’s our people who are the stars here. They power that innovation, push harder to break boundaries. They make coming to work (or working from home) fun. They’re the ones we trust to catapult our clients to success. Just as they trust us to build a business that’s always striding forward.

What you can expect:

ClearBank is a place where you can do things differently and challenge the status quo. We will give you a high level of autonomy and transparency, and we trust you to make the right decisions for the bank.

If that excites you, how about joining our team as Chief of Staff to the ClearBank Chief Governance & Legal Officer (“CGLO”). As a key member of the LGP leadership team, and delegate of the CGLO.

Your mission will include:

  • Playing a key role in developing and driving the delivery of our ambitious legal strategy, enabling the strategic growth of our business

  • Being a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CGLO, empowered to act and deliver on their behalf;

  • Drive the LGP optimisation plan, delivering a more efficient and effective Legal model through automation, systems improvements and strategic focus, enabling us to scale with the business and service our internal stakeholders and customers;

  • Accountability and management of the LGP budget, working in partnership with department heads, HR and Finance, ensuring effective and controlled cost discipline in line with strategic priorities;

  • Supporting the implementation and embedment of the ClearBank operating model, ensuring that shared LGP services throughout the group are being delivered effectively to the EU and UK banks;

  • Driving a culture of high performance and individual accountability within LGP, assisting with the review of the structuring and formation of the LGP function. Accountable for the LGP leadership team meeting (“LLT”) and monthly all hands, focused on driving strategic discussions and a commercial outlook;

  • Owning the reporting of LGP activities for various cyclical executive and Board reporting across the bank (monthly / quarterly) including quarterly business reviews and reporting to investors;

  • Working with the CGLO on the establishment, and running, of six-monthly shareholder meetings

  • Owning legal related risks with Heads of Department and controls including cyclical reporting;

  • Management of ad-hoc projects in line with strategic priorities.

What we're looking for:

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience within a fast-paced high growth focused environment, ideally in a scale up business;

  • Experience running a department and delivering commercial outcomes, ideally you’ll have Chief of Staff or Business Management experience;

  • Experience within, or working closely with, a legal and governance function;

  • Some form of experience working with Legal functions and an understanding of Legal processes / practices.

  • Strong commercial acumen and proven experience of cost management;

  • The ability to think strategically about the LGP agenda and shape the future of how we operate with a bias to action and hands on approach;

  • To be a resilient self-starter that can manage ambiguity and create from scratch: you’ll be driving the agenda for the function so the ability to ‘make it happen' sits within your control. There is a lot to build, shape and implement;

  • This is an individual contributor role; the incumbent must be able to deliver through influence and drive high performance without direct control;

  • Adaptability, resiliency and a continuous improvement mindset;

  • To deliver quality outcomes with strong attention to detail and the ability to distil complex information into concise updates and c-suite reports;

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver at pace and meet deadlines;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels

Regretfully, we are not able to sponsor applicants for immigration purposes at the current time.

What makes a great ClearBank team member? Does this sound like you?

  • You focus on solutions and positive outcomes, thinking radically and responsibly to find the best result for our customers, your colleagues and the bank;

  • You actively seek feedback from others to drive your growth and development, always assuming positive intent from others and develop strong, trusting relationships you’re your colleagues and customers: you really, genuinely care;

  • You always strive for the highest quality, but you know that done is better than perfect; you welcome a challenge knowing that they learn as you go and iterate;

  • ‘I’ before ’we’, isn’t in your vocabulary

What we offer in return:

  • We're flexible – We support a culture of flexibility which allows our employees to achieve a strong work-life balance.

  • Discretionary Bonus (performance-based)

  • Holiday – 27 days of annual leave per year, plus bank holidays.

  • Work abroad – You have the flexibility to work outside of the UK for up to 30 days in a rolling 12-month period.

  • Wellbeing – 24/7 employee assistance programme including mental health support, life assurance and income protection.

  • Bigger than ClearBank – Take a couple of days per year to do something that matters to you.

  • Healthy living – Private healthcare and discounted dental cover, with employee perks and discounts.

  • Family – Enhanced family-friendly leave.

  • Personal development – We offer personal development budgets, opportunities to take part in role-related training and unlimited LinkedIn Learning.

And not forgetting the biggest benefit of all. The opportunity to be part of an incredible team that’s building a tech-bank fit for the future.
