About Chief Architect Role

Thredd is seeking a strategic and innovative Chief Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of our technology architecture. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that our technology landscape aligns with business strategy, supports innovation, and drives value for our customers.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership

• Define and communicate the overarching technical roadmap and IT strategy
• Ensure technology architecture aligns with business goals and drives innovation
• Chair the Digital Design Authority and provide architectural approval for major projects
• Act as the senior escalation point for technology architecture matters

Technical Governance

• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks
• Design high-level architectural frameworks and solutions
• Provide technical guidance and oversight for projects
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, performance, and security
• Develop and maintain architectural documentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders
• Work closely with cross-functional teams
• Liaise with Deputy Directors and CTOs in other departments
• Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• Conduct architectural reviews and assessments
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices
• Run innovation labs and conduct proof-of-concepts
• Drive the implementation of innovative solutions

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of architects and engineers
• Provide coaching and build architectural capability
• Role model behaviours that drive an agile and empowered culture

Requirements

• Proven experience in Architectural or Engineering leaderships within the payments industry
• Strong understanding of relevant programming languages (Python, Java, C# etc)
• Experience in architecting cloud based solutions in AWS
• Familiarity with data storage, API design, security protocols, systems integration and serverless cloud deployment
• Great interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Extensive knowledge of payment systems, transaction processing and financial applications
• Comfortable with card networks, ACH transactions and alternative payment methods
• Demonstrated success in guiding technical teams, collaborating cross-functionally and mentoring junior architects and engineers
