As a Chemicals Production Manager, you’ll be in charge of delivering both the strategic and tactical management of the Chemicals production plant. The role should inspire performance for the Brimsdown site and engage the team to successfully implement the strategy.

The role is accountable for the delivery of operational targets and cost along with ensuring that EHS, Quality and Security standards are adhered to. You will be required to interface with internal customers and the supply chain team to ensure excellent customer service. You will also work with the Site Manager to deliver a continuous improvement culture and deliver a suitable S&OP/IBP strategy designed to meet Internal stakeholder & customer needs.

The role:

  • Lead the Chemicals team, ensuring the day-to-day requirements clear set and expectations of deliver are understood by all.

  • Accountable for the operational performance of the Chemicals department, including sampling quality and validation

  • Responsible for achievement of performance measures and customer expectations, and to formulate ways in which these can be improved within the departments using tiered meetings.

  • Lead JM Production System (JMPS) implementation and entrenchment within Chemicals

  • Ensure Integrated Business Planning (IBP) is embedded within Chemicals with demand and capacity understanding central to Operations optimisation and business projections

  • Work with other functions, the maintenance and production managers to set / deliver an operational strategy designed to meet the requirements of working capital and internal / external customers.

  • Contribute to the strategy for improving process capacities and process development to meet future customer expectations in tandem with Commercial’s growth plans and associated NPIs.

  • Deliver an approach to CI and LEAN to deliver medium and long-term improvements to operational efficiency and meet the cost targets under the 10-year plan.

  • Ensure that PGM working capital within the departments is minimised by ensuring the control of metal inventory is measured and achieved and throughput is maximised.

  • Oversee the Chemicals operational risk register and ensure all sector / group stakeholders are engaged and informed.

  • Ensure site consistency for EHS management including improvement plans, KPI reporting, investigation, and action management.

Key skills/qualifications that will help you succeed in this role:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent science-based subject or demonstrate equivalent experience/knowledge 

  • Detail-orientated with experience within a Chemical, Manufacturing or Oil & Gas environment

  • Excellent demonstrable Microsoft Word, Excel and other IT systems

  • Experience of implementing talent and workforce planning strategies, organisation design

  • Skilled at working effectively with key internal stakeholders in an organisation

  • Good understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety issues in a Chemical/COMAH site (Desirable)
