As Senior/Chartered Building Surveyor you will be an independent person delivering a wide variety of more complex professional and higher value contract services for public and private clients. You will also be responsible as delivery lead working with other team members and AECOM staff from other parts of the business to deliver a service. There will be a focus on client care, mentoring, team management, service delivery and business development both externally and internally within AECOM.

You will manage the implementation of new technologies and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Additionally you will demonstrate a strong commitment to building and maintaining client relationships, while also overseeing the financial management of multiple projects, including client invoicing through AECOM’s Workbench project management system. As a leader of the local team, you will ensure financial targets are consistently achieved. As a recognized expert in building surveying, you will bring a robust background in design and contract administration to every project undertaken.

 

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Lead on individual Building Surveying, Project Management, and Contract Administration commissions
  • Client development skills to develop business with existing clients and confidence to win new work
  • Continuous improvement to our standards, processes and knowledge to deliver to our core clients
  • Mentoring and developing Graduate Building Surveyors and other team members
  • Comply with all QSE procedures
  • Establish client briefs, appropriate fees, and cost control through to completion
  • Financial, commercial and risk management from project inception through to completion on own projects
  • Conducting a portfolio of fee based activities with our key multi sector client base
  • Fully involved in or managing others for the production of drawings, specifications and tender documents
  • Survey and Report writing for the full range of typical core Building Surveying services
  • Construction monitoring and quarterly snagging assessments

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for: 

  • Ideally Degree qualified in Building Surveying
  • Chartered Status Holder
  • Sound technical ability for the advisory and project disciplines within building surveying.
  • Strong JCT administration experience
  • NEC3/4 knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to travel for short periods for work delivery within UK and Worldwide.
  • Act as a mentor for team members
  • Willing to be Security Cleared

Experience

  • Experience in all core Building Surveying work areas especially design and project management
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent client and team interpersonal skills
  • Be decisive - Know how to prioritize, advocate focus and accountability
  • Be impactful - Use clear and frequent communications, drive execution and results.
  • Be client-focused - Be collaborative, innovative and strategic.
  • Be the role model - Lead by example, demand excellence, maintain safety and integrity as top priorities.
