About the Role

You will be a member of an experienced Building Consultancy team that will carry out a wide range of roles specialising in the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and the Building Safety Act 2022, including professional services, technical due diligence as well as advising during contract and project work.

The role will require regular and direct communication with institutional fund management clients, landlords, consultants and tenants.

The team combines technical expertise with commercial awareness which meet specific client requirements from a nationwide network of offices.

You will be working as part of a dedicated team focused on assessing assets / portfolios and bringing them up to required Building Safety standards.

Key clients include Columbia Threadneedle, Hammerson, M&G, Landsec, BlackRock, and Federated Hermes.

Day to day you'll

  • Successfully manage the CDM project process as Principal Designer from inception to completion.
  • Develop a strategic view as Client CDM advisor on the design and construction of an asset and understand the clear objectives of the client brief.
  • Working with PAP/APs on their BSA obligations to ensure you are advising and delivering practical solutions in line with the regulations.
  • Working with team members and sharing in assisting in developing less experienced members of the team as well as taking up leadership roles.
  • Be available and present to assist in opportunities in the business and be keen to progress your career.
  • Support the wider team of Building Surveyors, from apprentice, graduate, surveyor, associate and partner, in their roles as BRs PD and CDM PD.

Building and maintaining close professional relationships with clients, tenants and colleagues is paramount to your success. Pro-activeness and using your initiative will be encouraged.

You will manage multiple instructions simultaneously for a range of key clients. You will need to demonstrate your ability to work within set timelines and provide regular client updates along the journey.

Understanding the client brief and delivering on their expectations is fundamental to your success.

Clients will rely on your professional advice, and we will expect you to manage, work with and interpret 3rd party reports such as fire safety assessments, surveys of external wall construction, fire door and compartmentation surveys, asbestos surveys, designers risk assessments and design proposals.

You will also assist the design team in terms of recommending commercial solutions to fire and building safety related problems.

The ability to analyse complex scenarios, assess risks and design effective safety measures is crucial.

What we expect from you

A proactive, practical, and positive approach to work is required.

Excellent and professional communication skills with the ability to build a good reputation with clients is also paramount.

You will be an Incorporated, Certified or Chartered practitioner of a recognised H&S body. Fire Safety related qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Previous experience on commercial and/or residential property in a similar consultancy or public body is required.
