Position Title: Category Management Opportunities
Position Type: Regular - Full-Time
Requisition ID: 43003
We're building our Category team.
At McCain, we're feeding the world: from French fries to Smiles, we contribute to the important role food plays in people's lives. That's why we're dedicated to ensuring our core values - Family, Authentic, Trusted, and Quality - shine through every day. As a privately owned family company with over 60 years of experience, a presence in more than 160 countries, and a global team of 22,000 people, our values and culture are at the heart of everything we do.
We're growing our team and we are recruiting for a couple of positions.
Whether you have experience in Retail or Foodservice Category, we want to hear from you.
Category at McCain...
We find the stories in the data. We're customer-obsessed, and our Category team gives customers the insights they need to win.
Our Category function spans multiple channels - from working with major supermarkets and grocery retail to supporting pubs, bars and restaurants on the foodservice side. Different roles, shared goals.
Across our Category Manager roles, you can typically expect to:
  • Use data and insight to identify commercial opportunities and craft winning category strategies
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with customers to help them grow - and grow McCain alongside them
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain to develop and land compelling, insight-led plans
  • Champion category and brand leadership, turning data into action and ideas into results
  • Shape and execute category initiatives, NPD sell-ins, and strategic plans that deliver sustainable, profitable growth
  • Be the voice of the category internally and the trusted advisor externally - influencing at all levels

The kinds of roles we hire for across Category
We have Category Manager opportunities across a number of functions within our GB business, including:
  • Retail Category - partnering with major grocery customers, using insight to drive range, space, merchandising and activation strategies
  • Foodservice Category - helping pubs, bars, restaurants and contract caterers find the best way to put our products on their menus
  • Customer & Shopper - translating shopper behaviour and market trends into actionable plans
  • Category Strategy - building the longer-term thinking that keeps McCain ahead of the market

What you'll likely bring
We're not hiring to a single profile - Category is a broad and exciting space. But the things that make McCainers successful in this world tend to include:
  • Experience in a Category, Shopper or Insight role within FMCG, food, or a closely related industry
  • Strong analytical skills - you're comfortable with data and know how to turn numbers into a compelling narrative
  • A commercial mindset - you understand what drives growth for both McCain and our customers
  • The ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders internally and externally
  • Curiosity, energy and a genuine passion for food and category thinking
  • An FMCG background, ideally with exposure to both retail and foodservice environments - although we welcome a range of experiences

Benefits of the role.
Although we do encourage you to taste the goods you'll be pleased to know we don't pay you in 'chips'. For working hard, you'll also get a great salary and some pretty good benefits including:
  • An achievable yearly bonus based on personal performance.
  • An excellent pension where we will pay double what you do, up to a maximum of 12% of your pay
  • Flexible holidays - where you can buy & sell up to 5 days holiday per year
  • Optional health cash plan
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • 'Chips In' Volunteering Day Off - to make a positive impact to the competitiveness, resilience, and long-term development of McCain communities across the globe

And of course, being part of a Global business there are great opportunities to shine/thrive should you wish to relocate in the future. We have an ambitious 5-year growth plan that presents development & progression opportunities for those who seek it out.
