For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

Job Description

We’re looking for an individual to develop and globally standardise our control framework, continuing to ensure our Customers funds are safe and protected as we expand as a business; occupying our CASS and Safeguarding Oversight Officer roles.

Your mission

Through occupying the CASS Oversight Officer and Safeguarding Accountable Officer roles, you will provide oversight to Wise’s Safeguarding and CASS operational teams: responsible for safe custody of £15bn customer funds and £4bn of Assets Under Custody, across 10+ licensed entities around the globe.

Protecting our customer funds is mission-critical, meaning this role is high-impact and high-visibility. You will ensure we put the safety of customer funds at the heart of what we do, as Wise continues to scale into new markets and products.

You will ensure that our controls are fit for purpose and best in industry; bringing consistency to our framework across all of the entities and jurisdictions that we operate in.

To achieve this, you will partner deeply with teams across the business including Product, Operations, Engineering, Analysts, Markets, Finance and Compliance.

Here’s how you’ll contribute to Wise’s mission:

  • You’ll be accountable for Wise’s CASS and Safeguarding UK Audits; facing off to external audit and reporting on findings to senior stakeholders in addition to holding relevant teams accountable for remediation items.

  • You’ll occupy the CASS Oversight Officer (UK) and Safeguarding Accountable Owner (UK) roles and be accountable to relevant entity boards for these areas.

  • You’ll support Wise in transitioning to the FCAs recently issued consultation paper ‘Changes to the Safeguarding Regime for Payments and e-money firms’ (CASS 15) through identifying and designing the required controls and governance to comply with any changes.

  • You’ll manage and develop a team to provide oversight and support day-to-day controls to ensure compliance with CASS and Safeguarding regulations in addition to delivery of the external audits.

  • You’ll support quarterly regional risk assessments to identify the strength of the control environment for Safeguarding activities.
  • You will drive global standardisation of controls across 10+ jurisdictions in which we operate; ensuring consistency in approach where possible.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Impact every Wise customer, as your work will play a critical role in ensuring safety of funds is at the core of all our products

  • Choose your path to impact - we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll collaborate with your team to create a vision of your own. Of course, you can always gather feedback from smart, curious people across Wise but you’ll have the freedom to make your own calls

Qualifications

  • You are a seasoned CASS professional with extensive years of experience in CASS or Safeguarding roles; working in industry, external audit and/or regulators.

  • You have experience and strong technical understanding of regulatory regimes focused on custody of client money (e.g. Safeguarding under UK regulations or PSD2; UK CASS; US Permissible Investments).

  • You have experience working directly with external auditors and holding teams accountable to audit and remediation delivery.

  • You have a track record of navigating complex and ambiguous regulatory environments.

  • You have experience in designing and advising on control best practices.

  • You have experience in both internal (c-suite, board members) and external (regulators, external auditors) senior stakeholder management.

  • You’re hands on and happy to get ‘stuck-in’ to delivering solutions to support our business.
