Department Description
Hogan Lovells debt capital markets practice offers expert advice on a full range of debt capital markets, including derivatives, straight debt, structured products and structured finance transactions as well as in the trust and agency space. It operates as an integrated part of the firm's global international debt capital markets. The clients that this team represents include investment banks as well as corporates, insurers, asset managers and corporate trustees. Hogan Lovells has advised clients on these products for many years, including advising on Eurobonds since that market's inception in the 1960's, on its first securitisation as early as 1984, and on high yield bonds when they were first introduced from the US in the early 1990's. The team focuses on the complex "high added value" end of the capital markets. In the last few years it has achieved a market-leading positions in a number of areas.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
The paralegal's main duty is to support the derivatives and structured products team on a wide range of transactions (including some straight debt and securitisation). Duties will include:
- Supporting the production of documentation based on precedent forms
- Assisting with signings and undertaking post-completion tasks
- Assisting with the drafting of condition precedent documents
- Researching information using paper and computerised resources
- General administration, including proof reading, filing and photocopying
- Assisting with queries from fee earners
- Develop effective working relationships with members of the department and other support and legal department
- Liaising directly with clients (subject to the paralegal being comfortable to take this on)
- Additional ad hoc duties as and when required
Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
Essential
- High level of IT literacy
- MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint experience
- Excellent research skills
- The ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff, including lawyers, PAs and business services, is required with client interaction possible depending on experience and confidence level. This applies to all forms of communication: telephone; written; and face-to-face.
- Knowledge of finance transactions
- Law degree, or equivalent

- Prior knowledge of capital markets and, ideally ISDA documents (although not essential)
