Department OverviewVideo Solutions teams in the R&D center in Krakow have been growing dynamically since 2019. Currently, we have more than 150 specialists on board working on solutions for fixed cameras, video analytics, video management systems as well as access control.
We bring advanced video and analytics capabilities to public safety and commercial customers including healthcare, airports, retail, critical infrastructure and public venues. Video is no longer reactive – looking back at what has taken place – but it also informs proactively, issuing alerts in real-time when a person, object or vehicle appears or a perimeter is crossed. Job Description
The Krakow Alta Video Team is excited to offer an internship opportunity for a motivated and eager-to-learn individual to join our team as a Camera Firmware Developer Intern. You'll help us develop our camera firmware, which is primarily built using Go (Golang) and C++. While prior experience with Go in an embedded context isn't required, it would certainly be a plus. The most important thing is your willingness to learn and your passion for embedded systems development.
Our camera firmware involves a wide range of interesting and technically challenging features that you'll have the chance to help shape and improve:
Assisting with the implementation of various camera features in a performance-critical environment.
Supporting efforts to optimize code for performance, memory usage, and reliability on an embedded device.
Helping to develop and debug software that interacts directly with hardware components.
Investigating and suggesting improvements for system stability and robustness as new features are added.
This role involves working mainly with firmware developers located in Krakow, but also with a team of hardware engineers,, and other backend/UI developers located in Krakow and London. We're looking for a team player who enjoys solving complex problems, is eager to learn, and isn't afraid to seek guidance and input from teammates when needed.

Basic Requirements
Passion for embedded systems development and a strong desire to learn more about firmware, hardware interaction, and imaging technologies.
Good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g., data structures, algorithms) and computer architecture.
Good Go (Golang) and/or C++ knowledge (from coursework, personal projects, or bootcamps).
Interest in developing and debugging software for hardware devices.
Willingness to collaborate closely with colleagues in hardware engineering, quality assurance, and backend development.
Eagerness to improve and optimize firmware in terms of performance, memory usage, and reliability.
A strong attitude towards continuous learning and staying current with technological advancements.
Proficiency in English.
Availability: 32 hours per week or Full Time.
Duration: At least one year of cooperation (Contract of Employment only).
Location: Availability to work 2 days a week from our office in Kraków (Czerwone Maki 82).
Familiarity with embedded Linux or an RTOS (Real-Time Operating System).
Basic understanding of the Linux command line.
Experience with microcontrollers or single-board computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32).
Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP).
Exposure to media streaming protocols (e.g., RTSP, WebRTC) or video/image processing.
Interest in IoT (Internet of Things) systems.
