Role Summary and Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Business Solutions, this role drives connectivity across Strategic Operations Managers and the Business Solutions team, and partners with business and functional teams to refine best practices and adopt customer and employee journey improvements. The Business Solutions Manager owns strategic business roadmap planning, enabling transformation initiatives that connect Underwriting, Operations, IT, Data, and other functions. They identify operational solutions, analytics, and service delivery performance opportunities across the organisation.

The successful candidate will guide and influence teams to achieve long-term goals, ensuring efficiency, quality, and delivery of products and services. They will help actualize the function’s vision by building capabilities for value-based strategic solutions through improved communication, stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and integration of agile and product management methodologies.

A key responsibility is supporting the Triangulation Center of Excellence, that will drive the prioritisation of change initiatives to enhance integration of people, processes, technology, and data. This includes collaborating with Process Excellence, Strategic Portfolio Management, Strategic Analytics, and Technology partners to ensure high-quality execution of initiatives and fostering a Community of Practice. The role also oversees measurement of the Delivery Excellence framework, identifies improvement opportunities, and establishes communication standards and reporting mechanisms across domains.

Ultimately, this position serves as a vital link between business functions and execution teams, aligning improvement agendas with functional goals. By leveraging analytical insights and technology-driven solutions, the manager will streamline operations, improve productivity, and drive organizational success.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Partner with Function Leaders to identify and prioritize business needs and improvement initiatives, ensuring a unified approach to innovation and technology adoption.

  • Manage transformation demands and coordinate dependencies across teams.

  • Track business results in collaboration with project execution teams.

  • Assess initiatives and define operational and technological roadmaps to support functional objectives.

Execution

  • Implement improvements in business functions, focusing on productivity and digitalization.

  • Design and monitor operational KPIs, track performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement.

  • Facilitate cross-functional transformation projects to optimize workflows.

  • Collaborate with IT and enabling functions to deliver technology and analytics-enabled processes.

Team Collaboration and Communication

  • Engage in cross-functional problem-solving with IT, Data, Strategic Analytics, and operational teams.

  • Support the Head of Business Solutions with preparation of reporting and communication artefacts, including board and executive reports, presentation deck and papers, newsletters and change communication across organisation.

  
Role Requirements & Skills

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven experience documenting strategic outcomes and roadmaps, improving customer and employee journeys.

  • Ability to assess operational, change, and technology implications of strategic plans.

  • Strong communication skills to convey enterprise strategy and operational plans to diverse stakeholders.

  • Expertise in engaging IT and business partners to deliver value-oriented solutions and benefits realization.

  • Demonstrated capability in leading transformation efforts and navigating organizational change.

  • Deep knowledge of the London Market Insurance sector.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to influence and present complex information.

  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Self-starter with flexibility, adaptability, and experience in change management.

  • Ability to develop and present strategic communications and presentations to senior leadership.

  • Familiarity with digital transformation, end-to-end insurance lifecycle, and value streams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in business solutions management or a related role within insurance.

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of the London Market and Lloyd's.

  • Strategic planning and execution aligned to business objectives and driving operational improvements.

  • Proven track record of cross Functional Collaboration to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Project management expertise with a track record of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with implementing technology driven solutions and automation strategies.

  • Proven ability to achieve business outcomes and articulate related business cases.
