Our Mission

At Ophelos, we believe in a different way to deal with debt. One that puts empathy and understanding front and centre, approaching our customers as individuals — no matter what they’re going through.

For too long, people in debt have borne the brunt of poor industry practices. Intimidating tactics, time-consuming customer service and a one-size-fits-all approach that overlooks the reasons anyone can fall into debt in the first place. Meanwhile, businesses suffer too. Poor customer experience translates to poor customer satisfaction, high churn rates, bad brand reputation and ultimately missed opportunities.

That’s why we’re taking a radically different approach. Pioneering an industry-first AI-native collections platform, we build products that help individuals clear their debts in a way that suits them, whilst providing businesses with an improved customer experience and game-changing insights into their customer base.

Since our launch in 2021, we’ve worked with some of the UK’s leading companies, including Octopus, Scottish Power and Philips — helping millions of people move toward a more stable, debt-free future. In 2023, we were acquired by Intrum, Europe’s biggest credit management service and have begun the next phase in our growth — expansion into 17 European markets over the next two years.

The Role - Business Operations Lead

Here at Ophelos we use cutting-edge AI and a customer-first approach to get people debt-free and organisations paid back. We are on an accelerated journey to roll out our products to 17 European countries - enabling us to support the financial health of millions of people

As we move into our next phase of growth we are on the hunt for a Business Operations Lead. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the COO, focused on optimising processes, driving cross-functional collaboration, and supporting senior leadership in driving business growth.

This role offers unique exposure to all aspects of building a fast-growing AI company. It will also involve mentoring, fostering growth and innovation throughout teams.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Shape and execute both day-to-day operations and long term strategic initiatives at Ophelos.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions - crucial to success as we rapidly expand.
  • Partner closely with various departments and team members, acting as both a bridge and guide to drive company wide metrics.
  • Problem solve - getting your hands dirty while enabling others so you don’t repeatedly fix the same problems. Ruthlessly prioritising and targeting the work with the biggest bang.

About you

We believe that no one is the finished article. However, some experience in the following is important for this role:

  • You have demonstrable experience in solving a myriad of problems at start-up(s), regardless of industry (the more hands on the better).
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that allow you to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • You’re highly organised and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • You’re highly adaptable and able to operate happily where others are blocked by grey.
  • You have a team first ethic with a want to mentor and develop others.
