It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay/Clearpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 50+ million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world's relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.
Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We've been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.
The Role
The FinOps Lending Team is "the voice of the banking partner" within Cash to ensure programs are being built and run in-line with bank partner requirements and risk tolerances, while actively managing bank partnerships. The team contributes to innovation with Cash Product teams and establishing strategic direction for lending products & programs.
The Business Intelligence Specialist, FinOps Lending has experience presenting reports, dashboards, data extracts to both management and analysts to support sound decision-making processes. You have a background in extracting relevant information from databases and unstructured data. We are looking for experience writing queries, creating extracts, combining data, cleansing data, and delivering accurate reports to executive management in financial institutions. You understand the language of bank partners, bank examiners, compliance, legal, and financial accounting teams and can interpret business requests into data requirements. We are looking for the ability to think before acting - specifically thoroughly considering and defining the scope of a request, along with the possible effects of privacy and security, before beginning work on the query. While we are looking for thoughtfulness before acting, it also requires quick and action because many data requests from bank partners and examiners have short timelines. Our top priority is to always provide clean and accurate reporting within the allotted timeline.
The Business Intelligence Specialist, FinOps Lending reports to the Operations Lead, FinOps Lending and provides all business intelligence solutions to the FinOps Lending Team. The role is fully remote.
You Will

  • Work with the teams involved in database administration and business intelligence within Block
  • Be a subject matter expert for Cash App lending product data and reporting
  • Create business intelligence work products as requested (reports, extracts, dashboards, etc.) from time to time, and as scheduled
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and cleanliness as it relates to lending data and reports
  • Work with various teams within FinOps to provide business intelligence materials and enhance decision-making
  • Naturally break down complex, unfamiliar problems into well-defined, easy to understand areas of work
  • Work daily in databases, data warehouses, data visualization tools, etc.
  • You are directly Responsible Individual (DRI) on business intelligence projects within the FinOps Lending Team, or as otherwise assigned by the Lending Operations Lead
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the Business Intelligence project lifecycle, sometimes explaining technical information to non-technical audiences and stakeholders
  • Synthesize verbal and written information (problems, questions, data, goals, needs, etc.) and formulate a to resolution through thoughtful analysis, ultimately generating the desired work product

You Have

  • 5+ years of relevant business intelligence experience within a financial institution and financial technology company (with a bank sponsor/partner)
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline or related field
  • Expert-level dashboarding and report writing skills from structured and unstructured data, work and experience of database query languages and database structures
  • Demonstrated understanding of data requirements of a bank , those involved in third-party partnerships - and the bank's examiners
  • Expert-level skills using databases and visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Mode, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) to combine and analyze data, and create reports and dashboards for use by executive management
