Role Purpose

Wood Mackenzie is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across our long term power and renewables offerings - including regional power markets analysis, onshore wind, offshore wind, solar, energy storage, hydrogen, and our broader energy transition solutions. This role is pivotal in securing new clients, expanding our market presence, and ensuring a strong pipeline of new business opportunities.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across the Power & Renewables sector, focusing on landing new logos.

  • Manage inbound enquiries with a consultative selling approach, understanding client needs and aligning them with Wood Mackenzie’s solutions.

  • Proactively conduct and be disciplined with outbound sales activities, securing and leading weekly prospect meetings.

  • Develop and manage a structured sales pipeline, ensuring efficient tracking and follow-up using Salesforce CRM.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including subject matter experts and marketing teams, to enhance client engagement and positioning.

  • Represent Wood Mackenzie at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to drive brand awareness and lead generation.

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of market trends and competitor offerings to refine sales strategies.

Please note there will be some travel across EMEA expected as part of the role. Please note this role will either be based out of our London or Edinburgh office.

 

About You

Essential:

  • 5+ years experience in a new business sales role in the Energy sector

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, engage, and convert new business opportunities.

  • Strong consultative selling skills, with experience in handling complex sales processes.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present confidently to senior stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience of the Power & Renewables sector

  • Previous experience selling data and analytics as a service

  • Proficiency in managing sales pipelines and CRM tools, particularly Salesforce.

  • Additional language skills are highly desirable.

Expectations

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
