Business Development Manager

Hybrid working with regular travel across the UK

Up to £70,000 per annum depending on experience plus car allowance and company benefits package.

Full time – Permanent, 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role:

As Business Development Manager, you will focus on developing relationships and expanding our housing management  solutions offer to new and existing clients. You will work on opportunities to develop new business opportunities for Combined Authorities, Devolved and Central Government clients and support the wider Group Business Development and Key Account Management teams on strategic opportunities and bidding activity, as well as supporting the operational teams during mobilisation.

You will work with senior managers to deliver high quality, innovative solutions, client engagement and bid strategies that support retention of key contracts and the growth objectives of the Group.

  • Identify and build relationships with key clients in line with the agreed strategy
  • Prepare commercial proposals as well as manage SQ’s and ITT’s
  • Assist Mobilisation teams with implementation of new schemes 
  • Deepen knowledge about our clients, their business needs, and relevant capabilities to foster potential opportunities
  • Develop positive relationships and networks with stakeholders and potential clients across local, devolved and central government
  • Persuasively market and sell Mears Group Housing solutions and propositions
  • Develop new solutions to issues and problems identified by clients
  • Work with the Business Development and Senior Management teams to manage and deliver SQ and bid submissions 
  • Develop and agree bid solutions with senior team 
  • Coordinate all bids with the Mears Bid Team
  • Maintain evidence and supporting information in Bid Library
  • Research and develop property led housing solutions for presentation to potential clients
  • Represent Mears positively in competitive dialogue environments
  • Prepare case studies and client proposals
  • Incorporate responses to any latest policy and strategy for the Housing sector within the bids
  • Maintain relationships with the Group to enhance solution offering and bid responses
     

Role Criteria:

  • Experience of strategic business development and bid/ proposal preparation and management
  • Experience of working both in the public and private sectors 
  • Excellent networking and relationship management skills
  • A competent negotiator, both in terms of agreeing a solution and the relevant commercials
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to proactively manage, analyse and influence outcomes utilising data.
  • Commercially astute
  • Experience of arranging and attending client meetings based upon an agreed strategy
