About the Role

Known internally as a Global Purpose Specialist (GPS), the Business Development Manager is a sales catalyst, relationship developer, service zealot, organisational wizard, traveller, expert trainer, problem solver, and company culture enthusiast all rolled into one!

Your mission as a GPS  if you choose it, is to be the face of G Adventures to your agents. You will be responsible for growing the sales of a network of agents and supporting the wider UK GPS team. 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the National Sales Manager to deliver the UK sales strategy to grow the business

  • Agency Branch Visits to train agents and build relationships growing existing accounts and prospecting new opportunities.

  • Out on the road with agency visits/events at least 3 days a week.

  • Attend Partner Conferences & Events

  • Host FAM Trips for agents and partners

  • Building and facilitating training, both in person and online (G Introductions, new product)

  • Handle any booking issues calmly and with empathy liaising with our contact centre team. 

  • Work hand in hand with the UK GPS team to help deliver key events and campaign plans

  • Be the first point problem solver for any of your agent’s bookings

  • Ensure accuracy in recording all sales visits in Salesforce

  • Maintain superior knowledge of all G Adventures Product

  • Be an integral part of G Adventures amazing company culture and live by the G Adventures Core values.

  • Work closely with the global marketing team, and regional marketing teams to help deliver the UK's marketing plans.

Requirements

  • A love of sales and travel

  • At least two years experience as a BDM and a strong network or relationships in the UK travel trade would be favourable. 

  • Ability to understand and demonstrate professional sales presentation techniques

  • Demonstrated strategic business planning , analysing, and reporting skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Advanced skills in interpersonal relationship management

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Problem solving/complaint resolution skills with a focus on the customer experience

  • Flexible and energetic, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Ability to navigate and use a variety of computer systems confidently with speed and efficiency

  • Experience with using Zoom and/or Google Meet and Google Slides

  • Experience in event management and basic social media skills

  • Understanding of, and identification with, G Adventures’ Core Values

  • Valid driving licence and own vehicle


Location

  • Ideally based in Manchester or surrounding areas with extensive travel in the region required. 

  • Domestic and International travel are involved with this role
