The role will have a strong focus on the European market, with regular travel across the region.

Purpose of the Position

Hexagon Mining is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager – Europe to accelerate growth and strengthen our market presence across the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building strategic customer relationships, and driving the adoption of Hexagon Mining’s technology portfolio.

This is a customer-facing role requiring a strong understanding of the mining industry, technology-based solutions, and complex B2B sales. The ideal candidate will combine technical credibility with strong commercial acumen and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders ranging from mine-site operations and technical teams to senior executives and corporate decision-makers.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy for the European market aligned with Hexagon Mining’s regional growth objectives.

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities across surface and underground mining operations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, decision-makers, technical stakeholders, partners, and industry influencers.

  • Develop a deep understanding of customers’ operational challenges, strategic priorities, and investment plans, and position Hexagon solutions accordingly.

  • Drive new customer acquisition while identifying opportunities to expand Hexagon’s footprint within existing strategic accounts.

  • Lead the commercial development of opportunities from initial engagement and qualification through solution positioning, proposal development, negotiation, and closure.

  • Deliver compelling customer presentations, demonstrations, business cases, and commercial proposals that clearly communicate the operational and financial value of Hexagon Mining solutions.

  • Work closely with Account Management, Product, Technical, Marketing, Services, and Customer Success teams to deliver a coordinated customer experience.

  • Manage complex commercial negotiations, including pricing, contractual terms, and strategic agreements.

  • Maintain accurate opportunity and pipeline information within the CRM and provide reliable forecasting and reporting.

  • Monitor market developments, mining investment activity, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies to identify new growth opportunities.

  • Represent Hexagon Mining at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and other strategic engagements across Europe.

  • Contribute to regional strategy, account planning, and long-term market development initiatives.

Knowledge and Experience – Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Engineering, Technology, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in business development, technical sales, or enterprise technology sales, preferably within the mining industry.

  • Strong understanding of the mining industry, including mine operations, operational challenges, and technology adoption.

  • Demonstrated track record of developing new business and successfully managing complex B2B sales opportunities.

  • Ability to understand technical solutions and translate their capabilities into clear operational and commercial value for customers.

  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at multiple levels of an organization.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and commercial skills.

  • Strategic and proactive approach to identifying, developing, and converting new opportunities.

  • Self-motivated, accountable, and comfortable operating independently across a geographically dispersed market.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional and international teams.

  • Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Professional fluency in English.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across Europe.

Knowledge and Experience – Desired
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or direct operational experience within the mining industry.

  • MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualification.

  • Fluency in German and/or another European language.

  • Previous commercial experience within the European and Nordic mining markets.

  • Knowledge of mining technology solutions, particularly Fleet Management Systems (FMS), Operator Alertness Systems (OAS), Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS), and related operational or safety technologies.

  • Existing relationships and professional network within the European mining industry.

  • Experience selling enterprise-level technology solutions involving multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.

Travel

Regular travel across Europe will be required, including customer and mine-site visits, internal meetings, industry events, and conferences.
