As a Business Development Executive, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and closing new business opportunities within the sport and entertainment sectors to help us achieve our ambitious revenue growth and sales goals in 2026 and beyond.

Your primary focus will be to drive our new business prospection across a range of selected sports and sponsor brand categories via execution of high-quality outreach campaigns.

You will be required to collaborate with both commercial and non-commercial colleagues across sport and the wider YouGov business to uncover viable commercial opportunities, design value-led proposals, and deliver engaging presentations to potential prospects; with the goal of bringing in new projects into the business.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff): 

  • Previous sales success, with experience in managing or supporting end-to-end sales cycles to achieve and exceed personal and team sales targets

  • Ability to identify new business leads and their decision makers through research, LinkedIn and other networking platforms

  • Book and support discovery sales calls/meetings with qualified prospects, (marketers, sponsorship professionals or research experts)

  • Familiarity with digesting project briefs and creating B2B proposals that align a potential client’s needs with products/services

  • Exposure to follow-up discussions & negotiations through to successful close, including managing contracting with Legal & Governance

  • A history of working with, selling or procuring data for use in a marketing or sponsorship setting is of great value to this role

  • An established history and understanding of using Salesforce (or equivalent CRM and revenue intelligence platforms) to organise daily sales activity, sales pipeline projections and analyse personal sales performance

These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview: 

  • A degree or relevant qualifications in Business, Marketing, Sport, Market Research, or a related field

  • 2-3+ years of experience in sales, ideally within the sport, sponsorship, market research or SaaS industries

  • Good communicator and rapport builder

  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills

  • Sound written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Willingness to travel (when permissible), for sales opportunities and industry specific trade shows

  • A passion for sports & sports business
