Business Development Associate (Career Pathway Role)

Location: Scunthorpe, with travel to customers. (Hybrid after successful completion of probationary period).


Reports to: Commercial Manager


Working arrangements: Full time / 35 hours pw role.

The Role 

This role marks the start of a structured career pathway, designed to develop you into a confident and commercially capable Business Development professional, one who plays a direct role in delivering an effortless, reassuring, and insight led customer experience.


In these early stages (first 12 months), your focus will be on building and nurturing relationships with existing customers, ensuring every interaction feels smooth, supportive, and easy for the client. You will learn how to simplify complexity, communicate clearly, and guide customers confidently through decisions… all key principles of the effortless experience.


During this initial stage, you will:


  • Build strategic relationships grounded in trust and simplicity.
  • Deliver insight led conversations that help customers avoid friction and make informed choices.
  • Identify solutions that are operationally and financially viable.
  • Ensure proposals and communications are clear, concise, and customer friendly.
  • Support and deliver customer renewals in a way that feels straightforward and transparent.
  • Apply Challenger techniques to create value while maintaining an easy, constructive customer journey.

As you progress, your role broadens into full Business Development responsibilities, where you will continue to champion our vision of changing the relationship our customers have with technology by making every experience intuitive, seamless, and frustration free.


What We’re Looking for in the Successful Candidate

We are seeking someone who is curious, commercially aware, and passionate about technology… especially ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions, such as Microsoft Dynamics or
Sage Intacct, and how these systems help organisations streamline processes, improve efficiency, and operate more effectively.


You may come from a technical background, such as:

  • IT Manager
  • Professional Services Engineer
  • Service Desk Analyst
  • Systems Administrator
  • Technical Support Specialist

Or you may come from a finance or accounts background, such as:

  • Accounts Assistant
  • Finance Administrator
  • AAT Level 3 (or equivalent experience)

Whether your experience is technical or operational, you should be excited about helping customers navigate challenges, simplify their processes, and make confident decisions using modern business solutions like ERP systems.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a genuine passion for technology and ERP solutions
  • Be comfortable building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bring a confident, proactive approach to customer conversations.
  • Be an excellent communicator able to explain complex topics clearly and simply.

Key Responsibilities (First 12 Months)

Account Management
 Cultivate strong, trust-based client relationships that feel supported and effortless. Meet or exceed monthly sales targets while championing a smooth customer experience.

Sales Strategy & Insight Delivery
 Use Challenger insights to guide clients effectively delivering clarity, simplifying decisions, and helping them avoid unnecessary effort.

Team Collaboration
 Work with internal teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, commercially aligned, and easy for customers to understand and progress.

CRM Management
 Maintain accurate CRM records to support transparency and prevent unnecessary customer effort caused by missing or unclear information.

Renewal Success
 Lead renewal discussions for key clients, ensuring the renewal process is simple, predictable, and easy for customers to move through.

Service Delivery
 Manage service escalations with urgency and empathy, ensuring customers feel heard and supported with minimal effort required on their part.

Account Ownership
 Take ownership of Gold Accounts (and others as assigned), ensuring proactive communication and high-quality, frictionless customer experiences.


Role Overview (Future Scope… Year 2 and Beyond)

As you develop, your scope will expand to include:

  • Generating new business and converting prospective clients.
  • Leading high impact commercial engagements.
  • Positioning our services with clarity and confidence.
  • Driving long term customer success through effortless CEX.
  • Representing our values and helping transform how customers experience technology.

Salary & Package

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.


Your reward structure grows with your development:


  • Year 1: Eligibility for our Sales Bonus Scheme, reflecting performance in relationship-building, renewals, and effortless CX delivery.
  • In addition - Year 2 onwards: Eligibility for our Commission Scheme, recognising your expanded commercial contribution.
