Job Description

This role sits within a growing Enterprise Architecture function and has been created to help meet increasing demand across the business. As part of the AI Team, you will have the opportunity to get involved in exciting AI and automation initiatives from day one, working on programmes that are helping to shape the organisation's future. Operating at a portfolio level as the Business Architecture representative within the wider Architecture and Design team, you will play a key role in ensuring strategic priorities, transformation initiatives and emerging technologies are aligned to business outcomes. While this is not a technical AI specialist role, it offers a unique opportunity to influence how AI and automation are adopted across the organisation through effective business architecture practices. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will lead strategic discovery activities, capability assessments, operating model design and transformation planning, helping to answer the "so what?" behind the strategy and translating vision into target capabilities, operating models and actionable transformation roadmaps.

Day-to-day, you will assess business capabilities and organisational maturity, identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, and develop structured solutions that support the transition from the current state to a future target operating model. You'll play a key role in bringing greater rigour and consistency to how change is shaped across the organisation, engaging confidently with senior leaders, including Executive and C-suite stakeholders, to influence decisions, drive alignment and support strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery in an environment where business and enterprise architecture capabilities are still evolving. You will have the chance to contribute to the ongoing expansion and maturity of the Enterprise and Business Architecture function, helping shape the practice from the ground up while gaining exposure to some of the organisation's most visible and impactful AI, automation and business transformation initiatives.

The detail of what you'll be doing:

  • Develop and maintain business architecture artefacts, including capability models, value streams, and target operating models aligned to strategic and change objectives
  • Translate business strategy into business architecture outcomes, identifying capability gaps, investment priorities and transformation roadmaps
  • Lead strategic discovery activities to understand business challenges, opportunities, risks and future-state requirements
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and engagement across business and technology teams, including senior leadership and Executive stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to build alignment, shape decision-making and drive consensus on strategic outcomes
  • Ensure business initiatives are supported by the appropriate expertise, engaging business stakeholders, subject matter experts as well as data, technology and change specialists as required to inform decision-making and shape successful outcomes
  • Contribute to the development and maturity of the Enterprise and Business Architecture practice, including methods, standards, governance and communities of practice

Qualifications

If you feel you have a combination of the following skills and experience, then we want to hear from you!

  • Significant experience of developing and delivering best practice when it comes to understanding and capturing business requirements
  • An experienced facilitator - able to synthesise complex business problems into actionable instructions for delivery teams
  • Significant Business Architecture experience within a complex organisation, ideally in a regulated environment
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into target operating models, capabilities and transformation roadmaps
  • Strong expertise in capability modelling, value stream mapping, process architecture, people architecture and connecting to other architecture domains
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation and influencing skills, including engagement with Executive and C-suite stakeholders
  • Comfortable challenging constructively, navigating ambiguity and operating effectively in evolving or less mature architecture environments
  • Able to break down complex initiatives into deliverable outcomes, pragmatic roadmaps and actionable change plans
  • Passionate about both the modelling and practical application of architecture, ensuring business architecture delivers tangible business value
  • Delivery-focused, striking a pragmatic balance between architectural design, governance and execution

If you feel you have some of the skills mentioned above, but not all, please do still apply and we would be happy to have a further discussion with you in regards to your suitability for the role.
