The Office of the COO within the Technology Innovation Management team is responsible for the efficient operations of the Technology department for the Bank in EMEA and internationally for the Securities business. The department’s mandate is to maintain a relationship between IT and the business, and to increase the value realized from IT assets, investments and capabilities.

This includes promoting operational efficiencies, communicating to the wider organization about technology related initiatives and driving open dialogue between businesses, functions and entities to push forward strategic goals and objectives for Technology.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

  • The incumbent will have technology business management and innovation responsibilities.
  • The incumbent will support the Technology COO in ensuring smooth and efficient running of the operations of the Technology department. This includes promoting cost savings and operational efficiencies while ensuring that business objectives and strategies are met.
  • The role will be working closely with the Technology leadership team, supporting them in communication efforts across the bank and promote strategic initiatives and benefits
  • As Culture & engagement Pillar owner, Lead initiatives related to women in technology, employee engagement, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) to foster a positive and inclusive working environment.
  • Handle department changes, launch smaller COO-related projects, and promote these initiatives across the department.
  • Drive and promote AI initiatives, identify, and implement cost-saving projects to enhance departmental performance and innovation.
  • The role will provide a lead example for the culture and behaviours required in the bank.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role holder will be required to continuously challenge norms and think innovatively in their key responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations within the technology department
  • Oversee and manage special projects as directed by the COO of Technology. Track project progress and ensure milestones are met.
  • Act as central point between Technology and the business by building MI packs and communication strategies for projects owned by other Technology pillars. This will include roll-out of AI and the impact of business users, ensuring that communication is clear and concise and delivered on time.
  • Support the development and promotion of Technology Innovation Lab framework.
  • Own stream in Culture & Engagement pillar for Technology as a whole working closely with HR business partners. This agenda includes Women in TEC, Graduate Accelerator programme and TEC engagement.
  • Foster operational efficiencies within the team and communicate technology initiatives across the organization.
  • Promote the MUFG values-led culture which is inclusive and diverse.
  • Lead by example in building relationships across the bank, establishing a strong peer network and helping to strengthen collaboration.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as a business manager in a larger organisation, preferably in technology
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple initiatives at the same time
  • Experience with culture and employee engagement programmes desired
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and ability to negotiate with stakeholders
  • A holistic understanding of technology operations and required support for a bank
  • Ability to present complex data in a simple, structured way using storytelling
  • A good understanding of the scope and purpose of the core banking functions
  • Ability and experience of working under pressure
  • Ability to liaise with business and technology stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Please note MYFG operate a hybrid working policy with 3 days in the office per week.
