Who We Are

For 25 years, Brand New School has helped brands find their visual voice — transforming design, storytelling, and experience into cultural resonance and commercial impact. Our integrated model unites strategy, creativity, and production to help brands like Meta, Pinterest, Google, Apple, Microsoft, and OpenAI transcend their categories and become benchmarks in culture and commerce.

We’re different by design — built to move seamlessly from idea to impact.

As we expand with a presence in London, we are building a small, senior team to shape the next chapter of Brand New School globally.

Opportunity

We are seeking a full time Motion Design Lead for our London studio, with deep expertise in motion design and a strong point of view on how motion shapes brand systems and identity.

This role is for an experienced motion designer who thinks beyond individual animations and assets, designing motion as a core part of brand language. You will help define how brands move, behave, and evolve across platforms, building kinetic identities that are clear, expressive, and scalable.

You will work closely with the ECD, Design Directors, brand designers, and technologists, contributing from early concept through to delivery. Alongside project work, you will help foster a culture of exploration, research, and experimentation in motion, raising the studio’s ambition and fluency in this space.

RoleMotion Brand Systems and Concept
  • Design and evolve motion brand systems as part of wider visual identities
  • Develop kinetic brand concepts that translate strategy into movement, rhythm, and behaviour
  • Define motion principles, rules, and patterns that scale across touchpoints
  • Ensure motion work is clear, intentional, and consistent with overall brand systems
Creative Delivery and Collaboration
  • Lead motion design across multiple projects, from concept through final execution
  • Collaborate closely with brand designers, strategists, technologists, and producers
  • Contribute to creative direction in early stages, shaping ideas through motion
  • Present motion concepts and work clearly to internal teams and clients
  • Balance craft, experimentation, and delivery within project constraints
Culture, Research, and Exploration
  • Build a culture of exploration, testing, and research within motion design
  • Explore new tools, techniques, and workflows that expand what motion can do for brands
  • Share knowledge, experiments, and learnings with the wider studio
  • Support and guide other designers through feedback, collaboration, and example
Experience
  • Significant experience as a motion designer within studios or agencies
  • Strong portfolio of motion-led brand identities or motion brand systems
  • Proven ability to think systemically about motion, not just individual animations
  • Comfortable leading motion across multiple projects and collaborating with brand designers to bring static ideas to life
  • Clear communicator with a curious, experimental mindset
Skills
  • Essential: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, Cinema 4D (Redshift), Production Pipeline.
  • Desirable (not essential): Blender, Houdini; Coding (P5JS, TouchDesigner); Cavalry; Unity or Unreal; AI Tools (Comfy, Krea, MidJourney, etc)
  • You do not need to be an expert in all tools, but you should be curious, fluent in collaboration, and confident directing across disciplines.
Details
  • Full-time, permanent role at our London studio. UK work authorisation required.
  • Hybrid work schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays in studio. Mondays and Fridays remote.
  • 24 work from home flex days, used to work remotely on in-studio days.
  • 20 days holiday, UK bank holidays, and typically an end of year holiday closure from Christmas to New Year.
  • A competitive salary sacrifice pension scheme.
  • Continued education plan reimbursements.
  • Peer bonus system.
  • Scheduled performance reviews.
  • Dog friendly work environment. 🐶
  • BNS will comply with the employer pension duties in accordance with Part 1 of the Pensions Act 2008.
