What we need

The Brand and Media Marketing Manager will be responsible for helping to build the brand health of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. This role serves as a key support function to broad campaign strategy, managing internal and external creative and media agencies, media partners, and sponsorships — including Bluebikes — as well as internal creative teams, in order to drive top-performing integrated campaigns across external and internal initiatives.

The role will serve as the connective tissue between agency partners, media partners, and internal stakeholders, translating macro strategies into tactical end-to-end campaigns. The Brand and Media Marketing Manager will become an expert on the brand, ensuring continuity across initiatives, and will build strong relationships with teams across the Company to identify and develop synergies. This individual will also serve as the voice of the member and culture, surfacing insights that create relevance and meaning with our audience across brand and media touch points.

This position is eligible for the Flex persona. The successful candidate will be required to work from the Boston office 2 days per week. This may change based on business need.

Your Day to Day

  • Serve as a key support role to global campaign strategy for external campaigns and internal initiatives ensuring execution aligns with and advances broader brand and campaign objectives
  • Act as the voice of the member and culture, surfacing insights that create relevance and meaning with our audience across brand and media touch points
  • Partner with Brand Leadership to develop brand, creative, and paid media strategies to drive the organization's marketing objectives across multiple objectives and lines of business
  • Author tactical briefs based on campaign creative briefs to drive effective content development, ensuring marketing goals translate clearly to creative strategy and applying consumer insights and historical data/trends (as appropriate)
  • Own the implementation and delivery of paid media, sponsorships (such as Bluebikes), and media partner relationships, acting as the primary point of accountability across channels, including strategically sound, efficient, and effective execution and launch of all deliverables
  • Manage production of deliverables for paid media initiatives and 3rd party sponsorships, including local community sponsorships, driving timelines, specs, routings and approvals process
  • Monitor campaign performance in collaboration with internal and external agency partners to ensure campaign effectiveness, identifying opportunities to optimize media strategy for current and future campaigns
  • Work with agency partners and internal team at close of campaigns to develop comprehensive reports on marketing and media performance
  • Collaborate with Marketing team members and cross-functional groups to provide brand governance, identify content opportunities and provide support for strategic business objectives
  • Track competitive activity and industry trends to help guide marketing and paid media strategy development
  • Support a variety of productions - from photo and video shoots to radio records to media/sponsorship activations

We're Looking for:

  • Deep expertise in paid media strategy, planning, and buying, with proven ability to translate business objectives into channel and investment strategy
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, similar to running multiple client workstreams in an agency environment
  • A passion for the details, and able to work proactively and effectively with light supervision
  • Experience supporting the full media planning and buying process with external partners, including negotiation and optimization
  • Experience supporting the development of successful integrated campaigns across paid, earned and owned channels
  • Skilled at developing creative briefs that balance consumer needs with business requirements, resulting in stand-out content
  • Ability to manage production of content and campaigns with producers and creative partners
  • Excellent presentation skills (oral and written), with the polish and client-management instincts of an agency account supervisor
  • Positive energy and interpersonal skills; a true team player who enjoys a collaborative environment
  • Creative at heart with a strong cultural curiosity; deep understanding of social channels
  • Comfortable making strategic media and marketing recommendations based on data and analytics

What You Bring:

  • 6-10 years of experience in marketing, brand management, or agency account management or strategy position
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, journalism, business, communications, or related field

Salary Range: $110,700.00 - $135,300.00


The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.  An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
