The RoleWe are looking for a talented and experienced Bid Manager – Public Sector to join our team. You will play a key role in reviewing and qualifying public sector opportunities, writing and submitting high-quality RFP responses, and building a deep knowledge base of Red Badger’s case studies, services and value propositions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about writing, persuasive storytelling, public sector procurement, and working cross-functionally to win new business.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of Red Badger’s case studies, service offerings, delivery approaches and their public sector value proposition.
- Review, assess and qualify public sector tender opportunities based on strategic fit, capability and commercial viability.
- Manage and monitor public sector procurement portals and maintain a pipeline of relevant opportunities.
- Lead end-to-end preparation of RFP/tender responses: from kick-off, gathering stakeholder inputs, drafting content, to submission.
- Translate technical, delivery and product information into clear, customer-centric, compelling narrative.
- Update existing case studies and create new ones tailored for public sector bids.
- Create and maintain reusable proposal content, templates, capability statements, team bios and credential materials.
- Coordinate internal bid processes, including planning/timetabling, resource allocation, review cycles and final submission approvals.
- Conduct research on public sector organisations, market trends, competitive landscape, procurement frameworks and client policies.
- Capture learnings and feedback post-bid to improve future bid quality and win rate.
- Support business development activities such as pipeline reviews, opportunity tracking, and bid strategy sessions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of bid processes, tools, content repository, and propose innovations in approach.
Essential:
- Proven experience writing bids, tenders or proposals for public sector organisations (government, NHS, higher education) in digital/technology/consultancy space.
- Excellent written communication: able to take complex technical or product-delivery information and craft it into engaging, customer-focussed narrative.
- Solid understanding of public sector procurement processes, frameworks, compliance, and response structure.
- Outstanding attention to detail, editorial accuracy and quality assurance mindset.
- Strong organisational and project-management skills: able to handle multiple bids and deadlines concurrently; coordinate stakeholders effectively.
- Strong research and analysis capabilities: able to gather, interpret and present information about clients, markets and competition.
- Collaborative working style and confident in liaising with senior stakeholders, technical and commercial teams.
- Motivated self-starter with proactive attitude, resilient in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Agile delivery models, user-centred design, product-led consulting or modern engineering practices.
- Experience creating and curating case studies and capability collateral.
- High quality of bid responses submitted (compliance, clarity, differentiation, persuasive writing).
- Improved win rate for public sector opportunities supported.
- Development and maintenance of a relevant and up-to-date knowledge base and reusable content library.
- Timely delivery of bids and adherence to internal governance and review cycles.
- Effective stakeholder collaboration and positive feedback from internal customers
- Contribution to continuous improvement of bid processes, tools and team capability.
