The Role:

Amber Labs is seeking an AWS Technical Architect to join the Artificial Intelligence team. This is a critical role in delivering and shaping cloud-based solutions, leveraging AWS technologies to support departmental objectives and ensure scalable, secure, and innovative infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of AWS cloud-based infrastructure and services within the Artificial Intelligence team.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to ensure alignment with best practices, security standards, and organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality AWS solutions.
  • Oversee the creation and documentation of cloud architecture designs, infrastructure roadmaps, and technical specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation within existing cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure AWS solutions are cost-effective, scalable, secure, and compliant with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
  • Support the development of cloud governance frameworks and maintain operational excellence.
  • Provide mentorship and technical direction to teams implementing cloud solutions.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong experience architecting solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), including design, build, and deployment of cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering scalable and secure cloud-based architectures, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
  • Experience in supporting cloud migration strategies and transitioning systems to AWS.
  • A proven understanding of AWS best practices, tools, and services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Experience working with agile methodologies and delivering solutions within a collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to innovate and optimise solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional/Associate).
  • Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and standards.
  • Experience in working within a UK Government or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms or multi-cloud solutions.
