POSITION SUMMARY

This AVP, IT Lead role sits within the IT Shared Services Product Management Team. This team delivers change initiatives for several stakeholders across RenaissanceRe’s global operation, including Claims, Operations, Reinsurance Accounting, Ceded, Delegated Authority and Reserving HR, Legal and Investments and this particular role is focused on the "Core Re/insurance" portfolio.

This role is responsible for shaping initiatives and working with our technical teams and 3rd party vendors to deliver the right solutions.

The incumbent in this senior role will be expected to contribute to and improve product management & delivery practices within the company.

This is a fast-paced business environment, demanding a strong work ethic and a results-oriented approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Work closely with the product management, engineering, architecture, and business teams to define product vision.
  • Understand business processes and collaborate with users, stakeholders, management, and other staff to determine needs and drive consensus on requirements and priorities 
  • Take on role of Product Owner role for certain initiatives, taking part and delivering against a roadmap and taking part in the relevant agile ceremonies.
  • Take on the role of Business Analyst for certain initiatives, capturing and refining requirements as applicable to the delivery methodology being used.
  • Collaborate with leads & product owners across the Shared group to coordinate the allocation of business analysts.
  • Use expertise to contribute to & improve the practises within product management & IT delivery.
  • Liaises with Portfolio manager/architect and sometimes external vendors to resource initiatives appropriately

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 10 years of experience with technical aspects of insurance and reinsurance accounting.
  • Proven experience of working in a business analyst or business / IT bridge role.
  • Experience of working within the Lloyds, London Company Market, and EU regulatory environments is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application/operational requirements.
  • Attention to detail and proven success meeting high-level vision and goals
  • Superior communication skills with internal and external contacts. This includes facilitating requirements, prioritization and training workshops.
  • Demonstrated experience managing 3rd party vendors, relationships and contracts.
  • Acting as a mentor to junior staff. 
  • Proficient using collaboration and presentation tools such as PowerPoint, Teams and JIRA.
  • Thorough knowledge of agile practices and principles.
