AVP, Business Solutions – Claims & Operations – Delegated Authority Lead
POSITION SUMMARY
The AVP, Business Solutions – Claims & Operations – Delegated Authority Lead is responsible for the successful delivery of initiatives within the Value stream. Working directly with the Domain Leadership and their Business stakeholders they ensure the Value Streams needs are well understood and prioritised in the Operational Plan, domain budgeting and resourcing. They deliver measurable change in line with Value Stream specific objectives within the Operational Plan.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Value Stream Lead
- Provide Business design leadership for initiatives within the Value Stream.
- Support Domain Leadership with Value Stream reporting
- Collaborate with Value Stream stakeholders to understand the strategic goals and operational challenges
- Define goals for the initiative/area and prioritises the backlog to support. Identify and monitor KPIs and metrics to assess the health and performance of the initiative
- Utilise business and systems knowledge within an area of the domain, to facilitate effective stakeholder support for problem analysis and solution delivery
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate on projects to assess processes and systems improvement needs.
- Build trusted relationships to gain additional insight.
- Lead communications and change management for their projects.
People Leadership
- Set high standards and motivates others to achieve results without direct authority.
- Share expertise to build organizational capabilities.
- Leverage team strengths effectively.
Organisational Skills
- Own project scoping, definition and mobilisation.
- Plan and executes change management with support from Business Solutions Change Manager
- Identifies and captures metrics to measure change.
- Coordinates project planning, tracking and risk management.
- May manage vendor relationships to ensure success.
- May provide delivery expertise across an area within the domain
- Facilitating discovery workshops, planning sessions, roadmap development.
- Ensure sufficient resourcing for prioritised initiatives.
- Coordinate teams, including external consultants, to achieve goals.
Analysis, Business Solution Design & Delivery
- Conduct analysis to support key decisions and clearly articulate the problem space for their area of the domain.
- Shape solution with Domain Leadership support.
- Lead process mapping, analysis and issue root cause diagnosis for business processes.
- Balance functional and non-functional requirements.
Innovation
- Identify valuable innovations by staying abreast of industry trends.
- Contribute to the improvement of business change practices.
- Individual contributor but may lead a team
- Ensure common understanding of problem space and proposed solution.
EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:
- Degree in relevant discipline or at least 7+ years relevant work experience e.g. business change role
- Insurance / reinsurance experience essential
- Experience in Delegated Authority business, encompassing comprehensive experience in claim processing, policy administration, settlements, and reconciliation procedures.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment is essential.
- Experience at working both independently and collaboratively is essential.
- Strong communication, collaboration, coaching, problem solving and relationship building skills.
- Ability to manage change and to negotiate prioritisation of issues and projects.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to understand requirements, to use creative thinking to resolve problems and refine processes.
- Attention to detail, with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups and facilitating requirements and training workshops.
- Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties.
- Problem Solving: Shows initiative in addressing problems and making decisions. Understanding of tools and techniques for identifying and resolving organizational, operational, or process issues. Applies problem-solving skills to different situations with guidance.
- Process Improvement: Familiar with strategic change and basic business transformation technical skills. Experience with operational improvement tools. Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative analysis and financial modelling.
