As a Senior Manager in the team, you will take a critical leadership role in delivering high quality audit and advisory services to a portfolio of complex/high profile audit clients (typically £750k-£950k). You will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, including trustees, governors and executive team members and support partners in driving high service, improvements to systems and processes and business growth.
You will bring significant experience and strong technical expertise in the nonprofit sector, a proactive approach to managing client relationships, and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders on matters of accounting and audit, as well as strategy and governance responsibilities. . Key Responsibilities
Client & portfolio management
- Take overall ownership of a portfolio of large and complex nonprofit clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction
- Build strong client relationships, providing clear advice and explaining technical concepts in a practical way
- Provide clients with strategic advice, and support them with governance matters
Audit & accounts delivery
Lead audit and accounts assignments from planning through to completion, including:

- Delegating work and overseeing performance
- Monitoring progress and proactively addressing issues
- Reviewing files, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant standards
- Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders
- Working closely with tax specialists
Team leadership
- Lead, coach and inspire the team’s managers/assistant managers, as well as the team’s trainees
- Promote a collaborative, high-performing team environment
- Drive system improvements
- Provide strategic direction and leadership
Business development & firm contribution
- Support the development of client relationships, identifying opportunities to expand services
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of client tenders and proposals
- Represent the firm at client meetings, seminars and relevant sector events
- Promote the firm’s values and contribute to the wider success of MKS
Operational & commercial responsibilities
- Contribute to effective engagement management, including budgeting and financial performance
- Support billing and WIP management in collaboration with Partners
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within the team
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualified
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio of similar size and complexity
- Strong nonprofit audit experience
- Good working knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards
- Technically strong with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive, adaptable and able to use initiative
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop others
- Commercial awareness and an interest in business development
