Join a growing audience and events team helping to shape high-quality Computing events for senior IT decision-makers at end-user organisations.

About the Role

We are looking for an outgoing, commercially aware Audience Development Executive to join our UK audience and events team, with a particular focus on Computing events. You’ll help identify, recruit, qualify and nurture senior IT decision-makers from end-user organisations, including IT Directors, CIOs, CISOs, CTOs, Heads of IT, infrastructure leaders, security leaders, data leaders and other technology decision-makers.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys speaking to people, building rapport and becoming a trusted point of contact for our audience. You do not need to have years of events experience to be successful here. A background in sales, customer service, recruitment, events, marketing, hospitality or another people-facing role would be useful, but the most important thing is that you are confident, curious and proactive: someone who is happy picking up the phone, using LinkedIn, meeting people in person and learning the technology audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit and qualify senior IT decision-makers from end-user organisations for Computing conferences, roundtables, dinners and other B2B technology events through research, sourcing, phone outreach, email and LinkedIn engagement.
  • Attend relevant third-party industry events, networking opportunities and community gatherings where appropriate, using them to meet new contacts, build the Computing audience network and identify potential future delegates.
  • Speak confidently with prospective delegates about event themes, discussion topics, speakers and the value of attending.
  • Assess delegate applications against event criteria, ensuring the audience is relevant, senior and made up of appropriate end-user technology decision-makers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with IT Directors, CIOs, CISOs, CTOs, Heads of IT, previous attendees, advisory board members and wider end-user technology contacts, becoming a familiar name, voice and face for the Computing brand.
  • Share useful audience feedback with internal stakeholders, including what IT decision-makers are interested in, what challenges they are facing and what topics are cutting through.
  • Use a mix of phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals and research to build new relationships and develop the Computing audience network.
  • Liaise with confirmed delegates to encourage attendance and participation, including calendar invites, bespoke emails, reminder calls and pre-event communications.
  • Maintain accurate records in event trackers and internal systems, including outreach, responses, registrations, confirmations and cancellations.
  • Track audience development activity, registration progress and delegate status, providing regular updates to the team to help monitor event performance and identify where additional outreach is needed.
  • Attend events in the UK where required, welcoming delegates, supporting registration, networking throughout the day and helping create a positive experience for attendees, sponsors and internal teams.
  • Work closely with marketing, editorial, sales, customer success and operations teams to support event delivery and improve audience quality over time.

What We’re Looking For

  • Some experience in audience development, delegate acquisition, sales, recruitment, customer service, events, marketing, hospitality or another people-focused role would be helpful, but we are also open to earlier-career candidates with the right attitude, communication skills and appetite to learn.
  • A confident communicator who enjoys speaking to people by phone, email, LinkedIn and face-to-face.
  • A natural relationship-builder who can develop trust with senior IT and technology professionals and represent Computing in a professional, human and credible way.
  • Commercially aware, curious and comfortable researching companies, job titles, technology themes, market trends and potential attendee communities.
  • Organised, self-motivated and resilient, with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines at the same time.
  • Comfortable working towards targets, tracking progress and taking ownership of results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, CRM systems or event platforms would be useful but is not essential.
  • Willingness to work on a hybrid basis, with office attendance required at least twice a week, as well as attending UK events when needed.
