Associate Territory Sales Engineer

Job Summary:

The role involves field sales of the ID and Vision product portfolio to assigned accounts. The TSE will prospect and sell to end users, machine builders, and existing customers, aiming to meet or exceed sales quotas. Responsibilities include growing and maintaining the territory, generating leads for the ASE, and collaborating with the ASE on shared accounts.

Essential Functions of Territory Sales Engineer

  • Responsible for achieving a defined sales quota for both current and prospective customers in the designated territory
  • Prospect for new sales opportunities via cold and warm leads which should build your sustainable sales pipeline
  • Achieve assigned activities-based business objectives, including, but not limited to the following examples: customer visits, new customer acquisition, and new product introduction
  •  Demonstrate Cognex products and review applications/issues to provide solutions to these applications at customer sites
  • Maintain operational excellence on a weekly basis by accurate forecasting and upward information flow 
  • Generate leads for other Cognex sales teams (pass leads) by collecting information on customer’s complex vision applications beyond the capabilities of assigned products
  • Continuously update project details in CRM system including competitive data
  • Leverages Service Cloud to ensure pre- and post-sales customer experience is being met
  • Work with EU Sales Readiness team to provide pre- and post-sales support including application evaluations, DS/BG, technical questions, training, etc. to ensure best-in-class customer experience along every step of the customer journey
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Action and result-oriented mindset
  • Ability to solve technical problems and learn new automation technology
  • Ability to work independently in a field sales environment travelling intensely with limited overnight travel (up to 20%)
  • Willingness to relocate and pursue career ambition outside of familiar surroundings
  • Good listening and communication skills

  • PC literate with a working knowledge of MS Windows applications

Minimum Education and Work Experience Required

  • 0-3 years of related sales experience (technical sales experience preferred) in automation industry.
  • 4-year college degree from reputable universities, STEM or Business (non-STEM major applicants must pass technical aptitude test)
