JOB TITLE: Associate - Sustainable Finance and Transition Team

LOCATION: London

HOURS: Full-Time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

Client Services Group (CSG) is an origination, product and coverage business, covering LBG's largest clients. Our Sustainable Finance and Transition team takes a lead role in enabling the Bank to deliver on its sustainability ambition and strategy, driving the delivery of reducing the carbon exposure from our financed emissions by 50% by 2030, on the path to net zero by 2050 or sooner, and providing £30bn of sustainable finance over the next three years.

Our Associate will:

  • Support and report into Sustainability Strategy Director, focusing on Institutional and Corporate Coverage.

  • Support Sustainability Strategy Director to develop and deliver value-add sustainability engagement for our clients in various sectors.

  • Support and deliver successful origination and execution of client opportunities with ESG advisory work.

  • Work collaboratively responding to the sustainability questions from the client about the Bank’s sustainability strategy and ambitions.

  • Support and engage with the development of the ESG Advisory product suite and propositions.

  • Support and create thought leadership via the creation of different marketing materials across different channels, such as written articles, and pitch packs.

  • Contribute to effective governance in all work, having confidence to challenge constructively with colleagues in an open and collaborative manner to effectively identify, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

  • Mentor and support the development of Grads in the team.

Essential Skills / Experience:
  • Showing genuine knowledge and enthusiasm for sustainability—including environmental and social aspects—is valuable, especially if you also have experience working in financial services or another corporate field.

  • Demonstrate understanding or willingness to learn about sustainability regulations and frameworks such as TCFD, ISSB, CSRD and other sustainability disclosure requirements.

  • Maintain awareness of market developments with ESG data, ratings and methodologies, sharing the information with the team.

  • Find opportunities by researching emerging trends, client needs, and sustainability innovations.

  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research and share insights to inform advisory requirements.

  • Benchmark best practices and gap analysis.

  • Fosters knowledge and sharing of sustainability trends across the different teams.

  • Engaging and developing productive and positive relationships with our clients, colleagues and external partners.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Bring
  • Some understanding in financial and sustainability reporting frameworks, including IFRS and ISSB standards and sustainability disclosure requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and see them through to resolution.

  • Excellent Power Point skills as well as the ability to write in effective succinct manner.

  • Confidence and capability with engaging with internal and external stakeholders, with an engaging communication style and strong desire to build the profile and brand of the team and LBG.

  • A desire for continual growth and development in own capabilities by pursuing and investing in relevant personal development.

  • Expertise in the creation of sophisticated and professional client materials and pitch packs
