About this role

Business Unit Overview: BlackRock’s Global Product Solutions (GPS)

BlackRock’s Global Product Solution (GPS) strives to catalyze firm growth by creating an effective and efficient product and solutions platform for our clients, managing a transparent and disciplined product development process from ideation through implementation, and accelerating our business across vehicle types, including our $1.3T Sustainable and Transition product platform.

The GPS Sustainable & Transition (S&T) Platform Strategy & Governance team is responsible for shaping and executing the product platform strategy across BlackRock’s active and index S&T offering as well as partnering with the business and investment teams to deliver market-leading products for our clients. The team reports to the Global Head of Sustainable & Transition Solutions (STS) with accountability to the Head of Product Development and Governance in GPS EMEA. We partner with GPS product teams, PMG, Sales, L&C, RQA, and GAPP to monitor evolving client preferences, competitor moves, and regulatory requirements, and ensure that BlackRock stays ahead of the industry in sustainable and transition investing.

Overview

The S&T Platform Strategy & Governance team is seeking an Associate in EMEA to support sustainability strategy, S&T product ideation, market intelligence, and governance activities across the S&T platform. The role sits at the intersection of sustainable product strategy, competitor and industry monitoring, platform analytics, and regulatory‑driven initiatives, with exposure to multiple stakeholders and cross‑functional strategic projects within GPS and BlackRock more broadly.

The successful candidate will be intellectually curious and drawn to the complexity and nuance that come with sustainable products. They will combine a hands‑on mindset with strong analytical and organisational skills and care deeply about the quality and integrity of their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic projects looking at how we can effectively commercialise and position our S&T Platform to our clients.
  • Maintain core S&T product and sustainability trackers, including sustainable characteristics, product changes and selected platform financial analytics, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely updates.
  • Support market and competitor intelligence for the S&T platform, including monitoring product developments, regulatory updates, industry flows, and maintaining comparative analyses and league tables.
  • Deliver research and commentary to support platform positioning and product outcomes.
  • Contribute to ad hoc strategic platform initiatives related to product development, governance, and regulation (e.g. baseline screen reviews, SFDR‑related work).
  • Prepare materials, data summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.

Key Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in product strategy, investment strategy, market research, product governance, or a related function within an asset management environment.
  • Understanding of the sustainable investment landscape and its evolution in Europe, and strong knowledge of the European regulatory environment, including UCITS and related fund governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to translate data and research into clear, well‑structured insights and presentations.
  • Ability to work with large datasets, including maintaining trackers, validating inputs, and supporting quantitative analysis; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Comfortable supporting senior stakeholders through high‑quality analysis and materials and ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple workstreams, meet deadlines, and support recurring and ad hoc business processes in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; content creation skills and additional European languages (e.g. German or French) are a plus.
  • Proactive, quick to learn, and takes ownership of tasks and processes, with pride in delivering high‑quality work.
  • IMC, CFA, or progress toward CFA preferred.
