The Associate Scientist - Technical Operations is responsible for assisting with key Technical Operations activities, including investigation, tissue and stability testing. This role involves hands-on lab work and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of operational tasks.
This position reports to the Technical Team Leader - Investigations and is part of the Technical Operations Department located in Newcastle Upon Tyne and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead or support specific laboratory workstreams. Deliver packages of work on time, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Support assigned operational areas by monitoring and maintaining technical equipment, kanban and inventory management systems.
- Contribute towards defined project/work packages in functional areas to continually improve products, processes and services.
- Continually develop within a market leading, global organization
The essential requirements of the job include:
- A degree (or equivalent) within a relevant Biomedical or Biological Science.
- Understanding of histopathology and immunohistochemical techniques.
- Working within a highly regulated environment, ideally with knowledge of Change Controls, Deviations and CAPAs
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive improvement
- Ability to work both as part of a team and as an individual for extended periods.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Travel expectations within this role are minimal (<10%)
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Knowledge/experience in one of the following processes:
- Microtomy
- Molecular biology techniques.
- Experience of IHC and ISH testing of antibody/probe products
- Microscopic slide examination of antibody/probe products
