About the Role

The Associate Publishing Manager for Content Engagement will contribute to creating engaging content (video snippets, blog posts etc.) to drive busy researchers to our website, and encourage them to use it and come back. They will focus on promoting traffic to our online training specifically and will contribute to our integration with other parts of the wider business (e.g. Nature Careers), as required. They will support the Publishing Manager for Content Engagement to achieve ambitious growth targets. 

The key function of the role is to organize content promotional activities, create and adapt content and help analyse course usage and market research data. The Associate Publishing Manager for Content Engagement will work closely with the Publishing Manager for Content Engagement, the Publishing and Learning Design teams, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Engagement in this highly collaborative role. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about building brand awareness and helping researchers find the ideal training in our portfolio at their point of need, in order to advance their research and their career. They will have experience in project management and awareness of content marketing, scientific communications, scientific journalism, or social media content creation.    

Role Responsibilities:

Support with Product Management

  • Support the gathering and analysis of market intelligence research and usage data to understand researcher training needs and how to best reach them and engage them (social media and other channels)

  • Help monitor competitors to gain an understanding of the competitive landscape

Content Development and Project Management

  • Help analyse market intelligence research to identify the best way to engage researchers (topics, formats etc.)

  • Support The Publishing Manager for Content Engagement by coordinating research engagement activities (social media campaigns, blog posts series, collateral materials, live events with experts etc.)

  • Support the Publishing Manager for Content Engagement to create a backlog of content pieces (blog posts such as expert interviews, day in a life etc., social media content, teaser videos, flyers, webinars with experts, etc.) and a publication schedule to attract researchers to our platform

  • Coordinate the commissioning and recruitment of existing and new experts (top researchers, editors, other world-class professionals) to help develop engagement content

  • Coordinate the recruiting of freelancers (multimedia, writers etc.) as needed

  • Lead on video production, filming and video editing

  • Support the Publishing Manager for Content Engagement in meeting project deadlines by documenting progress, prioritising tasks, mitigating risks and keeping stakeholders informed

  • Work closely with the Learning Design team to ensure content standards, accessibility and quality

  • In collaboration with the Product team, help leverage the platform’s capabilities to increase usage and engagement

Quality & Customer Satisfaction  

  • Support the Publishing Manager for Content Engagement in monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators 

  • Help analyse and report on course and platform usage

People 

  • Work closely with the Publishing Manager for Content Engagement

  • Support the development and implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility measures  

  • Build close relationships and communication channels with key colleagues in sales, product, customer engagement, and editorial teams to help raise awareness of our brand, and support client communications and engagement activities

  • Build relationships with key colleagues in marketing and help create a content pipeline to support their promotional activities

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Experience 

Essential 

  • Degree in the sciences or equivalent experience in academic or educational publishing  

  • Strong project management experience: running projects, controlling costs and hitting deadlines   

  • Experience in content engagement activities, in particular content creation. This could be marketing, social media content creation, science communication or journalistic experience

Desirable 

  • Experience commissioning subject matter experts 

  • Experience in video creation and basic video editing

  • Thorough understanding of the scientific process and the scientific research experience  

Skills 

Essential 

  • Strong project management skills 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

  • A passion for editorial excellence and superb attention to detail

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  

  • Strong stake-holder management skills

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
