The Associate Product Manager will support product development by managing backlogs, collaborating with teams, executing roadmaps, and conducting user research.
Lab49 is seeking a detail-oriented Associate Product Manager to support the development and execution of innovative product solutions for our partnership with ION to service their clients. In this exciting role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into well-defined product requirements, manage backlogs, and ensure the smooth execution of product delivery roadmaps.
This position is ideal for someone who is a Product Manager with 2-5 years of experience who is ready to take on more ownership while gaining exposure to client interaction and growth initiatives in an agile, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the backlog—write, refine, and prioritize user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with engineering, UX, and business teams to ensure alignment on feature development and technical feasibility.
- Work closely with developers and QA to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and validate feature completion.
- Assist in defining and executing the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Conduct competitive analysis and user research to inform product decisions and prioritization.
- Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and other agile ceremonies to maintain development momentum.
- Define and track key product performance metrics, using data to drive continuous improvements.
- Eager to take on a variety of responsibilities beyond core delivery, including contributing to product governance and driving continuous improvement through enhanced processes, tools, and reporting.
- Support client engagements by identifying opportunities to expand product scope or propose follow-on work, collaborating with senior product managers and delivery leads.
- Help prepare materials for client or internal showcases, including case studies, user feedback summaries, or product previews to demonstrate value and progress.
Required Skills and experience
- 2-5 years of experience in product management or a related role (business analyst, product owner, etc.).
- Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and defining “done” for development teams.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative development.
- Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar product management tools.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, UX designers, and stakeholders to balance business needs with technical feasibility.
- Strong analytical mindset—comfortable using data to inform decisions and drive improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
