What We Are Looking For: 


Escape Velocity is looking for an experienced VFX Tech Art Lead to help us deliver on pipelines, performance and budgets. We need an experienced Unreal specialist for this role with a strong familiarity with multiplayer action gameplay shipping requirements across different platforms. Join a passionate and experienced team who is looking to push our boundaries. 

Requirements

What We Will Do Together: 


  • Manage and guide team of skilled Technical Artists. 
  • Collaborate with Tech Art, VFX and engineering departments to establish the vision for shippable performance targets, testing pipeline and technical practices to hit the quality bar for project release. 
  • Handle performance profile testing and share insights/technical breakdowns to narrow down key target areas of optimization for VFX, shaders and lighting across different platforms. 
  • Drive tools development and pipeline improvements proactively to support the shared vision. 
  • Provide feedback, and training to others on the team. Build training resources. 
  • Constantly seek out creative technical solutions and ways to improve the project in all aspects. 


What You Will Bring: 


You are passionate about advancing your skills, pushing the boundaries of what effects can do in games, and always on the hunt for new VFX techniques. You like mathematics, love to solve logic problems and when you encounter a challenge you persevere until you find a solution. And you always find a solution. 


  • 7 + years of experience in the games VFX or tech art, both console and mobile 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience with managing a small team of developers 
  • Knowledge of current visual effects pipelines and techniques 
  • Experience working in UE4/5. Must have proficiency in shaders, blueprints, Niagara, and scratchpad. 
  • A strong sense of ownership and craft success 
  • A passion for video games and a solid understanding of product goals
