The Associate will assist in executing a private equity strategy in insurance, evaluating investments, performing financial modelling, and managing portfolio assets.
The Associate will support the execution of a comprehensive private equity strategy within our newly formed insurance sector. The candidate will assist in evaluating investment opportunities, performing detailed financial modelling, and contributing to the development and management of portfolio assets across the insurance value chain, including risk carriers and adjacent service providers. This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and opportunities for growth within a dynamic investment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain complex financial models to evaluate potential investment opportunities and existing portfolio performance.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on specific insurance sub-sectors, emerging trends, and potential acquisition targets. Assist in thorough due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and strategic assessments.
- Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda for internal review and external stakeholder presentations.
- Lead and coordinate aspects of the deal process, including interfacing with third-party advisors and stakeholders to ensure timelines are met.
- Undertake research independently and demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new industry concepts quickly.
- Work alongside senior team members on various stages of transaction execution, contributing innovative solutions and ideas.
- Act as the primary day-to-day liaison for portfolio companies, ensuring efficient information flow and comprehensive management of their financial performance. Prepare detailed summaries of transactions and proposed quotes from these companies for review and approval by the senior investor team, facilitating timely decision-making.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Proven experience in investment banking, management consulting, or within the insurance/financial services sector.
- Demonstrated excellence in academics, preferably with a degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- Strong financial modelling skills with a demonstrated ability to build detailed, accurate, and flexible financial projections.
- A self-starter mentality with proven tenacity and an investigative approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complex information and convey it clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new financial concepts and strategic business models quickly.
- Prior experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a related field with a focus on insurance or financial services.
- Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams and/or external advisors.
- Familiarity with emerging trends and regulatory environments in the insurance and financial services industries.
