Associate, Infrastructure (London)

Introduction

OMERS Infrastructure is a pioneer and global leader in Infrastructure direct investing with over 25 years of experience originating, executing, and actively managing infrastructure investments. We have over 100 dedicated infrastructure professionals across offices in New York, Toronto, London and Sydney. OMERS Infrastructure manages over C$40 billion of investments on behalf of OMERS and institutional strategic partners across a diversified global portfolio that includes investments in clean energy, transportation and logistics, digital infrastructure, power and utilities, and other essential services.

We are looking for a highly motivated Associate to join our Infrastructure team in London, UK. You will have the opportunity to join a collaborative team and support all aspects of the investment process, including evaluation, execution and asset management.

You’ll be one of a small group of Associates on the team playing the critical role of supporting the research and analysis that helps to inform our investment decisions. You will be a key member of an engaged, high-reaching team—part of a world-class, winning culture that prioritizes people development and focuses on long-term growth. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

  • Researching and analyzing financial statements, industry information, technical and financial data, and presenting conclusions to team members and managers

  • Independently developing financial models depicting an investment target’s historical and projected financial results consistent with the team’s evaluation of the investment

  • Critically reviewing, stress testing and commenting on financial models to assess the integrity of the model and the financial returns of investment opportunities

  • Writing memorandums and presentations summarizing key findings from research, financial analysis and meetings with industry representatives, co-investors and external advisors

  • Assisting with asset management responsibilities by preparing analysis and responding to industry and company specific questions in respect of the portfolio companies

  • Preparing offer letters and other written correspondence addressed to external parties

  • Actively researching prospective companies and industries to generate investment ideas for OMERS Infrastructure and identify important industry issues which are relevant to OMERS.

  • Identifying and tracking information gaps in OMERS Infrastructure’s evaluation of investments and proposing solutions to address the information gaps

  • Critically assessing documentation and other communications provided by vendors, company management and other professional advisors, and incorporating the relevant portions of this information into investment analysis

  • Preparing OMERS Infrastructure’s due diligence questions for company management and external advisors and assisting in the preparation of all internal and external due diligence reports

  • Independently leading valuation work streams for pursuits with limited oversight by senior team members

  • Helping foster an energized, proactive and entrepreneurial work environment

To succeed in this role, you:

  • Require advanced understanding of financial statements

  • Demonstrate a high degree of foresight

  • Lead due diligence work streams

  • Require strong analytical, quantitative and financial modeling skills

  • Require strong written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Work independently with minimal direction

  • Possess good teamwork skills

  • Have excellent command of MS Office applications
