JOB PURPOSE 

Leverage quantitative, product and market knowledge, along with Sales, Trading and Client needs in an eTrading environment in order to build and enhance CIBCs electronic trading offering across the full suite of FX products. This role involves utilizing current techniques in data and analytics, including traditional and AI-driven approaches; real-time pricing and hedging strategies; and working alongside Clients, Sales and Trading to deliver revenue-generating, customer focused initiatives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Develop and maintain eFX pricing and hedging strategies across linear products, including fundamental analytics, microstructure modelling and real-time algorithms;

  • Contribute to FX eTrading Analytics systems covering market conditions, liquidity and price benchmarking, execution performance, client performance and sales and trading activity.

  • Build and maintain a close relationship with FX sales and trading teams, including institutional, corporate and retails sales groups across our global locations including Toronto, New York, London and Hong Kong

  • Build and maintain a close relationship with Technology, Global Markets Quants, and with second-line partners, to influence and ensure alignment with strategic initiatives across the wider business.

  • Keep up to date with FX eTrading techniques, tools and developments, including regulatory aspects and create and communicate opportunities across stakeholder groups

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • This job works with in-house trading, sales/marketing, and quant teams;

  • This job works with risk functions (Credit and Market), compliance, documentation and legal;

  • This job works extensively with Technology teams, with a focus on FX eTrading systems, data and analytics, and low-latency market making.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.  

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS
  • As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Applied experience of eFX Trading including pricing and hedging strategies, ideally with experience within a team running proprietary or arbitrage style electronic trading activities.

  • Applied knowledge of Data and Analytics, including the use of traditional and AI-driven techniques. This should include working directly with data captures, databasing systems (kdb/q preferred), and analytical frameworks (python, R, or equivalents), and ideally, application to portfolio analysis.

  • A deep understanding and experience in working with hedging, risk management or price discovery and price-generation systems, ideally with a history of implementing/maintaining and deploying production systems. Requires knowledge of C++/Java or equivalent languages, ideally with experience of real-world eFX systems.

  • A strong understanding of FX products, their risk characteristics and quantitative models, market dynamics and hedging strategies, this should include spot, NDF and swaps/STIRT products.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This role operates within a normal office environment and is an in-office role.
