About this role
BlackRock is seeking a highly motivated Associate to join the Hedge Fund Investor Relations (HF IR) team based in London. The team supports capital formation, investor engagement, and platform initiatives across BlackRock’s hedge fund strategies within the Portfolio Management Group (PMG).
This role will initially focus on internal coordination and execution across fundraising initiatives, investor servicing, and cross-functional platform activities. The position plays a key role in ensuring the seamless preparation and delivery of investor communications and capital-raising processes.
The successful candidate will partner closely with senior HF IR professionals, the hedge fund strategy function, portfolio managers, and key internal stakeholders across the Client Businesses, Global Product Solutions (GPS), Technology & Operations, and Legal & Compliance.
The team engages with a diverse allocator base across both institutional and wealth channels, including pensions, endowments, sovereign institutions, family offices, private banks, and wealth management platforms.
Over time—typically within 12–24 months, depending on performance and business needs—the role will evolve to include direct allocator engagement, participation in roadshows and investor meetings, and increasing client coverage responsibilities.
This position is located in London and offers an opportunity to gain broad exposure to the hedge fund ecosystem while developing toward a client-facing investor relations role.
Key Responsibilities:
Internal Coordination & Capital Formation Support
Serve as a central coordination point across internal teams supporting fundraising initiatives, investor onboarding, and ongoing investor servicing.
Manage the development, review, and customization of investor materials, including marketing presentations, fact sheets, due diligence questionnaires (DDQs), and strategy updates.
Maintain and optimize MSD CRM data, ensuring accurate tracking of investor pipelines, engagement activity, allocations, and feedback.
Support management information (MI) reporting and analytics, including pipeline tracking, capital raising progress, regional activity updates, and investor engagement reporting for senior stakeholders.
Coordinate internal workflows for capital formation initiatives, including data requests, document management, and cross-functional alignment on deliverables and timelines.
Conduct research and analysis on allocator trends, competitor positioning, strategy performance, and broader hedge fund industry developments to support investor messaging.
Support the planning and coordination of regional investor engagement activity, including meeting scheduling, investor targeting, and alignment with client coverage teams.
Coordinate preparation sessions and internal reviews ahead of investor meetings, roadshows, and allocator events.
Investor Engagement & Client Support (Progressive Responsibility)
Assist in responding to investor and consultant requests, including performance data, strategy information, and due diligence materials.
Participate in investor calls and meetings, supporting meeting preparation, documentation, and follow-up actions.
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of roadshows, including meeting logistics, scheduling, internal briefing materials, and post-meeting follow-up.
Assist in coordinating participation in allocator conferences and client events, both virtual and in-person.
Develop familiarity with the institutional and wealth allocator landscape, including pensions, endowments, foundations, family offices, private banks, and wealth platforms.
Contribute to capturing and synthesizing allocator feedback and market insights to inform strategy positioning and investor communications.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in hedge funds or asset management, including roles in investor relations support, operations, client servicing, fund administration, or placement agent support.
Understanding of hedge fund strategies, performance evaluation, and risk/return dynamics, with familiarity across institutional and wealth investor segments.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
Experience preparing management reporting, pipeline analysis, or internal business updates is advantageous.
Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills, particularly in the preparation of investor-facing materials.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience working with CRM systems (e.g., MSD) and structured data is preferred.
Progress toward professional designations such as CFA or CAIA is a plus.
Collaborative, proactive mindset with strong intellectual curiosity about markets, hedge fund strategies, and allocator behavior
