Product Control for Global Equities & Financing Solutions [GEFS] related businesses in BMO Capital Markets & BMO London Branch entities.

Extensive business and technical knowledge to manage the overall needs of the European Equity Desks from a Global Middle Office/Product Control perspective. Responsible for daily/monthly P/L production, Product Control, new business initiatives (impact to function), primarily for the ADR/ORD, Relative Value, Single Stock Derivatives, Index and ETF desks.

Knowledge:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Accounting qualification
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Established background in Product Accounting and P&L production/reporting
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Corporate Actions
  • Excellent grasp of ADRORD/Relative Value/Index Arbitrage trading strategies
  • Good product knowledge of Equity Derivatives
  • Good knowledge of standard desktop applications like Microsoft Office.
  • An understanding of the business unit’s key products and services, processes, and controls
  • An understanding of the business unit’s risk and regulatory requirements

Key Accountabilities

This list is not exhaustive, and expectations are that an in-depth knowledge will be required to either perform or oversee/supervise the following functions.

A. P&L Reporting

  • Prepare and distribute timely and accurate daily P&L and Profit attribution for the GEFS line of business.
  • Review for large fluctuations daily and bring to the attention of management
  • Perform Front-Office to Back-Office reconciliations
  • Gain a working knowledge of the trade flow process from inception to G/L
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the P&L reporting, product accounting, settlement, and General Ledger systems (eg. Imagine, Calypso, GMI, Global1, CMART, GLOSS, IBUK, FC)
  • Ensure correct bookings in the general ledger
  • Ensure that new products are set up correctly in the P&L tracking process

B. Balance Sheet and Income Statement management

  • Demonstrate an understanding of product related balance sheet and income statement line items
  • As appropriate, record, upload, reconcile and/or coordinate all general ledger postings for product related activity
  • Prepare P&L and Balance Sheet Reconciliations as part of month-end close
  • Coordinate with legal entity and regulatory accounting, risk, operations, and other support groups

C. Analysis and process improvement

  • Create and update monthly analysis with regard to key business drivers
  • Prepare commentary and standard period over period analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve the operational effectiveness of assigned day-to-day activities.
  • Utilise BMO approved AI tools and take initiatives to improve process efficiency and productivity

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
