What we do

The role of Associate General Counsel, Privacy & Product, EMEA, is a fantastic opportunity to work on unique legal issues at the forefront of the AdTech industry in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. You will be joining the company’s Global Privacy and Product legal team and will report to its Lead Director for EMEA. We take part in building and deploying privacy solutions that aim to redefine the digital advertising ecosystem in Europe and promote an open internet. We are also responsible for developing the company’s regional legal strategy across the full range of new and upcoming technology regulations impacting digital advertising in the UK and Europe.

What you’ll do

As a talented, self-motivated, and experienced legal professional that is excited by taking on complex legal projects, you will be able to exercise sound, independent legal judgment in high-stakes circumstances. You will be both professionally and personally engaged in keeping up to date with the ever-changing legal landscape related to advertising technology in EMEA.

This role will be responsible for providing local product counseling and privacy-by-design advice across the full slate of TTD’s products as they launch in the EMEA region. There is also an opportunity for the right candidate to develop expertise in APAC privacy and, at a later stage, to potentially take responsibility for our APAC privacy & product compliance program.

As part of this role your focus will be to:

  • Collaborate with the company's global product and engineering teams to provide region-specific legal advice on strategic product initiatives, including issue-spotting and offering pragmatic risk-mitigating solutions adapted to the local regulatory landscape.
  • This includes product and privacy counseling on the development and go-to-market of our EMEA-specific products, such as TTD’s innovative identity solutions for cookieless digital advertising in Europe. It also includes collaborating with our global product counsel team to advise on EMEA-specific legal and privacy-by-design impacts of our global products (such as our Kokai platform and AI-powered Seeds).
  • Monitor and advise across the full range of new EU and UK technology regulations impacting AdTech.
  • Work closely with internal business partners to understand their perspectives, processes, applications, projects, and technologies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices while guiding them to successful resolution.
  • Collaborate with legal, business and product team members to improve cross-functional review processes.

Who you are

Qualifications: you are admitted to practice law in England or in an EU jurisdiction.

Experience:

  • 6+ years of legal experience
  • Proven experience advising business and/or product stakeholders on complex privacy-by-design and technology compliance matters.
  • Experience advising on highly complex dataflows and building a working understanding of elaborate technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU and UK privacy regulations, and some familiarity with the specific privacy issues impacting the European digital advertising ecosystem.
  • Some familiarity with other legal field relevant to adtech (such as IP or online consumer protection) is a plus.
  • Some experience working in or with a technology-focused industry is a plus.
  • Some experience counseling on advertising technology is a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • You have great legal judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • You are able to work with diligence and organization, and to proactively project-manage your tasks from onset to completion.
  • You know how to boil complex issues down to the bottom line, to assess risk in a knowledgeable, pragmatic way, and to provide practical, business-friendly advice to clients.
  • You build effective relationships with internal cross-functional partners established on trust, respect, and confidence.
  • You are constantly seeking to keep abreast of current events in the wider Privacy and Regulatory Compliance community and have a keen interest in the underlying technology we support.
  • You are able to build consensus and drive for results in a collaborative and supportive work environment.
