Associate Electrical Engineer

Department: Project & Development Services

Partner, Building Engineering Services

Location: National role

Role Purpose

  • Deliver high-quality electrical engineering consultancy services across all property sectors, with a focus on occupier and investor clients.

  • Lead electrical technical due diligence, dilapidations, audits and reporting instructions.

  • Design, manage and supervise electrical projects, coordinating with wider disciplines.

  • Prepare specifications, drawings, reports and cost estimates aligned to programme.

  • Achieve agreed revenue and profit targets.

Key Responsibilities

Clients & Business Development

  • Develop and grow a client portfolio within electrical engineering services.

  • Maintain strategic relationships internally and externally to generate new business.

  • Act as client lead on allocated instructions.

  • Deliver electrical surveys, due diligence and dilapidations, ensuring consistent reporting and accurate lease interpretation.

  • Contribute to tenders, pitches and fee proposals.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and strengthen integrated service delivery.

Commercial & Financial

  • Contribute to annual fee forecasting and pipeline management.

  • Maintain commercially viable fee structures.

  • Support billing, debtor management and profitability controls.

Operations & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with firm procedures, QA standards and CDM regulations.

  • Manage technical and commercial risk.

  • Maintain accurate time recording and support audit requirements.

People & Leadership

  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.

  • Lead project teams and coordinate resource allocation.

  • Maintain CPD and support recruitment and L&D initiatives.

Electrical Specialism

  • Define scope and deliverables for each instruction aligned to fee.

  • Undertake electrical due diligence (vendor, acquisition, occupier), assessing condition and compliance and providing costed gap analysis (BCO, ESG, Net Zero standards).

  • Deliver electrical dilapidations advice and support negotiations.

  • Oversee third-party consultants and contract staff.

  • Implement QA systems and support ISO9001 and ISO14001 compliance.

Experience & Capability

  • Proven experience delivering electrical engineering projects from concept through to completion.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical compliance and building services standards.

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing budgets.

  • Ability to prepare scopes, cost plans and technical reports.

Person Specification

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) and member of IET, CIBSE (Electrical) or similar.

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering.

  • Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience.

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

  • Proven project and team management capability.

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
